Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention the importance of the food chain and the utility of plants, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the example regarding India is vague and does not clearly support the argument about species loss. To improve, you should provide more specific, well-explained examples and ensure that your arguments are fully developed rather than just stated. The conclusion is brief and could more effectively summarise the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'While , other environmental issues are crucial' is grammatically disjointed and does not function well as a transition. There are also issues with referencing; phrases like 'These all things' are unclear. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by these awkward transitions. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') more naturally and ensure that each sentence flows logically from the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'important', 'problems', and 'things' repeatedly. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'diversity of species of tress and creatures' (trees) and 'factions' (likely meaning 'functions' or 'festivities'). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental science, such as 'biodiversity', 'ecosystem services', 'industrial emissions', or 'urban congestion', and ensure you are using words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include incorrect article usage ('the plants', 'the food chain'), subject-verb agreement ('species... is', 'problems are very vital'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. For example, 'if this chain is disturb ,which have very negative impact' contains multiple errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative clauses. Proofreading for punctuation errors, particularly around commas and periods, will also significantly improve your score.
