Numerous individuals believe that the main environmental issue of our era is the extinction of particular species of plans and animals, while other say that there are more vital environmental problems. On the one hand, extinct animals and trees are more crucial for the food cycle and earth as well. This is because, most of species depend on the other species, which are already lost on earth, so many of animals need to change their food habit such as wild dogs are depend on small animals which are not available in the world. As a result, those dependent species also reduce their number, due to food crisis. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the importance of species extinction and other environmental issues. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While the second body paragraph provides a specific example (Chernobyl), the first paragraph lacks a concrete, well-explained example, relying on vague statements about 'wild dogs' and 'illegal poachers'. The student's own opinion is stated in the introduction and conclusion, but it is not fully integrated or supported with deep reasoning. The position is clear, but the depth of argument is limited, keeping this at a mid-level band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To sum up', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In an accordance with later view'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The overall structure is functional and follows a standard academic format, but it lacks the sophisticated, seamless progression required for higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'plans' instead of 'plants', 'other say' instead of 'others say', and 'major health disease' instead of 'major health diseases'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic terms. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated or precise academic collocations prevents a higher score. Spelling errors like 'inabilities' (used incorrectly) also impact the overall impression.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('most of species depend', 'many of trees and animals extinct'), article usage ('the earth', 'the ukraine'), and prepositional errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with missing commas in complex sentences. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting and demonstrate a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms.
