Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's modern world, people still argue about the extinction and endangerment of various plants and animals is the most vital and emergent environmental issue in present. Meanwhile, others think oppositely that there are still other cruel environmental hazardous problems available than this which needs prior attention. I strongly think that ethically everyone deserves to live peacefully on earth and humans should ethically help other species in such dangerous situations and my inclination will be discussed in the further following paragraphs.

To begin with, many people are still unaware of the results of how species of plants and animals endangering will affect the ecosystem of the Earth. Each species plays an important role in maintaining the nature. If one species disappear it can affect worsely and disrupt the survival of other animals, plants and even humans. For example, according to the experiment carried out by scientist in Sheath University of Germany the loss of multiple plants species affected severely on the growth of ozone hole in the environment which can lead to evolvement of new harmful skin disease for animals as well as humans.

Another reason is that if we do not focus on this emergency situation of endangering plants and animals, it will affect negatively on the developing food scarcity for humans and other living beings as they are fully dependent on it for food consumption, medicine and other goods. For instance, if some of the pollen insects are removed from existence it will face a significant issue in reducing crop production which can eventually worsen theand result to death due to starving.

I majorly think that protecting and providing a secure environment to endangering species is the most important need in present for balancing the nature and lifecycle on the Earth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt but is incomplete, as it ends abruptly after the introduction of the conclusion. While the introduction and two body paragraphs present relevant arguments, the second viewpoint (that other environmental problems are more important) is not discussed at all, which is a significant omission. The position is clear, but the lack of a balanced discussion means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure all parts of the prompt are covered, including a thorough exploration of both sides before stating your own opinion, and always complete your conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with' and 'Another reason is that' to signal new points. However, the logical progression is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending makes the overall structure feel unfinished. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of a fully developed conclusion prevents the essay from demonstrating a smooth flow of ideas. To improve, focus on linking sentences more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph transitions logically to the next, culminating in a complete summary.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'worsely' (incorrect adverb form), 'hazardous problems available', and 'evolvement of new harmful skin disease'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range is limited and does not demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical forms and standard collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the extinction and endangerment... is the most vital' (subject-verb agreement error), 'affected severely on the growth' (incorrect preposition), and 'worsen theand result' (typographical/syntax error). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the overall control of complex structures is inconsistent. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and proofreading to eliminate minor slips that detract from the professional tone of the writing.
