Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believes that the problem of our enviroment is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. While others argue that there are more enviromental problems which is harming our enviroment. In this essay I will discuss both views and then i will explian my own opinion on this matter.
There is no doubt about this argument that the loss of some plants and animals species have imbalanced our ecosystem.Species like the dodo bird which have become extinct and many other indangered animals who we fear will become extinct like Polar Bears.
But the main issue is that these plants and animals species which are getting extinct is due to other big enviromental problems like globalization, deforestation rise in temperature Due to global warming, air and water contamination etc. For example there is a continous rise in overall temperature of the planet, which is mellting the glaciors on the north pole at a rapid face. These glaciors are home to polar bears who cannot survive at any other conditions than that of the north pole. There are only a few left now because there grounds are melting.
Flooding and drought are also the issues which are affecting our ecosystem. Flooding are caused in areas of severe rainfalls. These heavy pressure water could sweep away anything that comes in their way, that may include rare species of plants and animals. Followed by a series of draught could also destabalize the enviroment, because plants and animals need water for their survuval.
In conclusion, there are numrous ussues which are causing enviromental problems. That does not matter, what matter is that we oay attention to it and put effor

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that biodiversity loss is the main environmental problem versus other major concerns—and provides a personal opinion, albeit somewhat abruptly at the end. The writer presents relevant ideas, such as mentioning the dodo bird and polar bears, and links the extinction of species to broader issues like globalization, deforestation, and global warming. However, the explanation of the second view and the personal opinion feel slightly underdeveloped and truncated in the conclusion. For example, the final sentence tails off unfinished ('put effor'). Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of argument aligns more closely with a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay has a basic organizational structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, paragraphing and logical progression are hindered by mechanical transitions and abrupt shifts. For instance, sentences like 'There is no doubt about this argument that...' and 'Flooding and drought are also the issues...' introduce new points with limited cohesion. Furthermore, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'which are getting extinct is due to other big enviromental problems' where the relative clauses become tangled. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes repetitive or inaccurately applied, resulting in a Band 5.5 performance for this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, covering common topics related to the environment, ecosystems, and climate change. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'enviroment' instead of 'environment', 'indangered' instead of 'endangered', 'mellting' instead of 'melting', 'glaciors' instead of 'glaciers', and 'draught' instead of 'drought'. The writer attempts less common vocabulary, like 'destabalize' and 'contamination', but the persistent spelling mistakes and minor collocation issues detract from the overall clarity, placing the lexical range firmly at a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure with relative clauses and conditional ideas. However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text. There are foundational errors such as subject-verb agreement ('Some people believes'), incorrect prepositions or structures ('in any other conditions than that of'), and sentence fragments ('That does not matter, what matter is that we oay attention to it and put effor'). Punctuation and spelling errors also create frequent hurdles for the reader, meaning the control of grammar aligns best with a Band 5.0.
