Student answer (Band 4.0)

Enviornmental problem interconnected between not just species of plants and animals but also humans.Humans plays a major role in enviornmental changes.Becuase of increasing population of humans, they are destroying homes of animals as they are cuting trees to fulfil their daily needs such as for cooking, for making furniture, building houses etc.As trees are the home for many animals, they become homeless, and due to burning fuels the different harmfulgases like carbon mono-oxide,Carbon dioxide etc, the temperature of the earth is becoming higher called golbal warming,Decreased in rains as more areas are becoming barren. Not only that aquatic system has also been disturbed as harmful chemicals are released in the lakes, rivers from different industries as aresult plants and aquatic animals are dying.Humans throws plastic bottles that are not degradable and makes aguatic life miserable. As differents types of microorganisms grows on these plastics, when fished eats those plastics, becomes part of food chain and humans dies when they eat those fishes

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count of 250 words, stopping at only 153 words. As a direct consequence of this severe under-length, the task cannot be fully addressed or developed. While the student attempts to touch upon the prompt by discussing human impact on the environment, deforestation, global warming, and aquatic pollution, the views of both sides regarding biodiversity loss versus other problems are not properly contrasted, and a clear personal opinion is missing. The ideas are presented as a single continuous block of text without proper expansion, leading to a Band 4.0 performance for Task Achievement due to the incomplete nature of the response and significant lack of development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

Coherence and cohesion are severely compromised in this response because the entire text consists of a single, run-on paragraph. There is no paragraphing used to structure different ideas, such as separating land-based issues from aquatic pollution. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, relying heavily on basic, repetitive connectors like 'and' or 'as'. Referencing is also confusing at times, such as 'when fished eats those plastics' where the subject and reference are unclear. Information and ideas are not arranged in a logically structured progression, fitting the descriptors for Band 4.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The student demonstrates a basic and repetitive vocabulary range with noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text. Words like 'Enviornmental', 'Becuase', 'cuting', 'harmfulgases', 'golbal', 'Decreased', and 'fished' (instead of fish) impede readability and highlight persistent spelling issues. While the student attempts some less common topics related to ecology—such as 'carbon mono-oxide', 'aquatic system', and 'food chain'—the overall lexical control is limited. Frequent errors in word formation and spelling place this response firmly at Band 4.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The writing exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting predominantly of poorly controlled, long, run-on sentences joined by conjunctions. There are frequent, heavy grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Humans plays', 'humans throws', 'humans dies'), missing articles ('as aresult', 'on these plastics'), and incorrect word forms ('Decreased in rains' instead of decreased rainfall). Punctuation is largely neglected, with missing spaces after commas and periods. These pervasive errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and reflect a Band 4.0 level.
