Student answer (Band 4.5)

It is an undeniable fact that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animal there are maybe more important environmental problems. Both views will be discussed in the following essay.

To begin with, the loss of perticular species of plants and animal we know that every animal and plant plays a huge role in the regulation of world and extinction of them creats a huge imbalance in the cycles of food chain of some animals who are limited to eating a particular plant or animal this can lead to further more extinctions of plants and animals leading to less plants which will further lead to less oxygen,Medicines and dyes further more extinction of animals will lead to business cricis as non veg people prefer to eat animal meat so meat market will go down and some blankets and carpets are manufactured by animal skin that will also be affected.

On the other hand there are more environmental problems such as pollution following that there are different types of pollutions firstly,Air pollution caused by mainly factories and fuel vehicles they release alot of chemical in the air which are harmful for every living species secondly water pollution caused by sewage dump by main holes into big water bodies effecting aqatic species

Taking everything into consideration there are alot of environmental problems including loss of paeticul species of plants and animals and environmental pollution as some examples of it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to discuss both views regarding environmental problems and the loss of species, but the development is limited and repetitive. The student presents some relevant ideas, such as the disruption of the food chain and alternative issues like air and water pollution, but fails to fully extend these points. Additionally, the student's own opinion is not clearly stated. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains 245 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. This lack of adequate length contributes to the under-development of the task. Consequently, this performance aligns closely with Band 5 descriptors, where the task is only partially addressed and ideas remain limited.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

Coherence and cohesion are severely hindered by structural and mechanical flaws. The essay lacks proper paragraphing, with the entire body of arguments crammed into a single massive, run-on paragraph. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, relying heavily on repetitive run-on sentences without appropriate punctuation. For instance, sentences are linked loosely with words like 'further more' and 'and', creating a disjointed flow. There is no clear overall progression of ideas, and referencing is faulty throughout the text. These features are characteristic of Band 4, where information and ideas are not arranged coherently and paragraphing is inadequate.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by word choice and spelling errors. Examples include 'perticular', 'creats', 'cricis', and 'paeticul'. The student attempts some less common terms like 'extinction', 'imbalance', and 'aqatic', but errors in spelling ('aqatic', 'perticular') and collocation ('business cricis') detract from the overall quality. There is a lack of precision, and the limited range of vocabulary makes it difficult for the reader to engage with more sophisticated concepts. This performance sits comfortably within Band 5, featuring a limited range and noticeable errors that cause difficulty.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, dominated by massive run-on sentences containing multiple clauses strung together with coordinating conjunctions and a total lack of standard punctuation (such as periods and commas). Sentences like 'Air pollution caused by mainly factories and fuel vehicles they release alot of chemical in the air which are harmful for every living species secondly water pollution caused by sewage dump by main holes into big water bodies effecting aqatic species' demonstrate a fundamental absence of sentence boundaries and control. Frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and tense consistency distort meaning and make reading arduous. This fits the Band 4 descriptor where errors are frequent and sentence structures fail to demonstrate control.
