Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people argue that the rood of environmental problem in current time is the extinction of particular species of plants and animals. While others disagree and believe that there are more important reason than this that need to be discussed. I agree to this notion and believe that there are broader problems that needs to be discussed.
On one hand, the disappearance of certain species of plants and animals does a play a role in many environmental problem. It has led to a disturbance in the ecosystem. Every species plays a particular role in the ecosystem and loss of one species affects the others in the food chain. Aditionally once the species becomes extinct it can't be restored naturally. Therefore it is necessary to protect the endangered species.
On the other hand, there are more concerning environmental problems other than this. For example, Climate change can lead to rising temperature, extreme weather and a rise in sea levels. Conditions like Air and Water pollution also play a part in degradation of natural habitat as well as human health. These issues are interconnected and working on them may lead to preservation of species.
In my opinion, although the loss of certain species is a serious environmental issue but problems like climate change, pollutiona and global warming represent a broader spectrum. They affect not only the environment but the human beings as well, Therefore the efforts made to resolve these issues may eventually lead to conservation of endagered species.
Thus, eventhough the loss of particular species may disrupt the ecosystem but e

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that plant and animal extinction is the main environmental problem, and that there are more pressing concerns—while also providing a clear personal opinion. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed; for instance, the explanation of how species loss affects the food chain is a bit brief, and the conclusion trails off mid-sentence ("Thus, eventhough the loss of particular species may disrupt the ecosystem but e"). Despite this abrupt ending, the main arguments regarding climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss are relevant and extended adequately. This performance aligns well with Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, moving from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing each viewpoint, and finally a concluding stance. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as "On one hand", "On the other hand", and "In my opinion". However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen in minor awkward linking phrases and repetitive structures at the start of sentences. Furthermore, paragraphing breaks down at the very end where the text cuts off incomplete. Overall, the logical progression is clear enough to earn a solid Band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-specific terms such as "extinction", "ecosystem", "endangered species", "climate change", and "biodiversity". There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but these are accompanied by lexical errors and typos, such as "rood" instead of root, "Aditionally", "pollutiona", and "endagered". Word choice is generally understandable, but these spelling and collocation slips prevent the lexical score from reaching higher bands. Communication is not impeded, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over relative clauses and conditional-adjacent structures (e.g., "Every species plays a particular role in the ecosystem and loss of one species affects the others"). However, there are noticeable grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, such as missing articles ("does a play a role in many environmental problem"), subject-verb agreement issues ("problems that needs to be discussed"), and incorrect capitalization or punctuation (e.g., "health. These issues"). Because these errors do not impede overall communication and the student successfully attempts complex sentences, a Band 6 is appropriate.
