Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses both views outlined in the prompt—that the loss of specific species is the main environmental problem, versus the view that other issues are more important—and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. For instance, the student states that "air pollution are most common and effect on animals and plants," but does not sufficiently extend or elaborate on this point with deep analysis. The discussion of climate change and deforestation in the later paragraphs begins to support the position well, such as "Global warming is causing rising tempture , melting galcires, etc.", but overall, the ideas remain basic and underdeveloped, aligning closely with the Band 5 descriptor where the task is addressed, but ideas are limited and lack full extension.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The organisation of the essay shows basic structure with an introduction and body paragraphs, but the overall progression lacks smooth logical flow. Paragraphing is unconventional, featuring an introductory label ('INTRODUCTION :') and disjointed, single-sentence or very short paragraphs that disrupt the reading experience. While basic cohesive devices are attempted, referencing is frequently unclear, and repetition of phrases like 'are most common and major issue' creates mechanical cohesion. There is no clear overall progression between the ideas, leading to a choppy structure that fits the Band 4 to 5 profile. Given some logical connections in the final paragraph, a score of 4.5 is appropriate, rounded to 5.0 for overall rudimentary structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The lexical resource is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts less common vocabulary such as 'ecosystem', 'endangred', and 'habibts', but these are frequently marred by spelling and word-form errors (e.g., 'speices', 'polution', 'deforestion', 'tempture', 'galcires'). Basic vocabulary is heavily repeated throughout the text, particularly words like 'environmental', 'problem', 'plants', and 'animals'. While communication is generally achieved despite these lexical limitations, the high frequency of spelling mistakes and lack of precision prevent the response from reaching Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The student demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic subject-verb-object patterns. Attempts at more complex structures are frequently faulty, leading to persistent errors in agreement, tense, and article usage. Examples of frequent errors include 'Environmental problem are the major issue for the all speices' and 'The air pollution are major effect'. Punctuation is also problematic, with erratic spacing around commas and periods. These frequent grammatical errors cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the score to Band 4.5.
