Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on whether biodiversity loss is the main environmental problem and providing a personal opinion throughout the essay. The writer presents relevant ideas, such as the ecological role of plants and animals in maintaining ecosystems, as well as counterarguments regarding pollution and technology. However, the development of these ideas is sometimes limited and lacks depth or specific external examples, often relying on vague statements like "bees pollition the honey from flower and produce honey." Despite these limitations, a clear position is maintained and all prompt requirements are fulfilled, placing the response securely in Band 6.0 according to the descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by faulty cohesive devices and mechanical linking words, such as "whereas" and "consequently" used incorrectly or awkwardly within sentences. Referencing is also sometimes unclear, for instance, in sentences like "it is impossible to servive life . iIt helps to develop..." where pronoun reference lacks precision. Paragraphing is present, but overall cohesion is noticeably faulty, aligning the response with Band 5.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common topics related terminology such as "biodiversity," "ecosystems," or in this case "endangard animals." However, there are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, including "endangared," "maintaning," "atmoshpare," "pollition" (pollinate), "servive," "ither," "technlogy," "vechile," and "althouge." These frequent spelling and word-choice errors do impede communication at times and reflect limitations typical of Band 5.0, where noticeable errors cause some difficulty for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to construct multi-clause sentences. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ("loss of endangared animals and plants are play crucial role"), incorrect verb forms ("people may loss their family member"), and punctuation slips. Complex sentence attempts are frequently faulty, leading to sentences that require re-reading to parse meaning. The frequency of grammatical inaccuracies places this performance firmly at Band 5.0.
