Student answer (Band 5.5)
Enviromental problems are getting enormous these days. Some people argue that the most important enviromental issue of our generation is the loss of the specific plants and animals species. While others believed that there are some other crucial enviromental concerns. From my stanpoint, i believed the loss of plants and animals biodiversity are the main environmental problem.
On one hand, individuals who think the extinction of certain plants and amimals taxon due to environmental problem. For instance, deforestation is one of the biggest crisis in our environment. Due to the cutting of forests many animals species has losted their lives and homes as well as many plants taxons are diminished. Plants are the main source of food and shelter for various kind of animals and birlds when humans cutt them they are responsible for the indirectly loss of animal kingdom. Although, this loss me cause different types of problems in the environment beyond our thinking. To avoid this government should implement strict law againt the deforestation, and introduce better planning to preserved the endangered species of plants and aanimals.
On the other hand, people who argue that there are many other crucial environmental problems. As a case in point, Industrialization severely damages the local ecosystem. Such as coal fire powder plants releases sulphur dioxide in the air and water containing hazardious chemicals in the water bodies and soil. As a results it pollutes the air, water and soil of our environments which spread various problems including acid rains as a result of air pollution which destroy the forests, buildings. Whereas, aqautic life destroy in a case of water pollution and soil pollution cause the destruction of crops. To cope with this governments should kick off the industries out of the main cities and order them not to release any dangerous component in the environment directly.
In conclusion, loss of the biodiversity is the main environmental problem as plants are benificial and important for the servuival of humans and animals. I strongly believed we should step forward to protect our environment and protect the species on which our servial heavily depend.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the loss of species as the main environmental problem versus other pressing concerns—and clearly states a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are extended, such as the discussion on deforestation, habitat loss, and industrial pollution. However, some arguments lack full depth, and there is a tendency to overgeneralise without introducing more precise, concrete evidence. For instance, the first body paragraph contains an incomplete sentence structure ('individuals who think the extinction of certain plants and amimals taxon due to environmental problem') which slightly obscures the presentation of the first viewpoint. Despite these minor limitations, the main requirements of the task are met effectively, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response is arranged coherently with a clear overall structure, featuring an introduction, two main body paragraphs discussing opposing views, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. Transitional phrases like 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand' are included, but internal cohesion within sentences often breaks down, such as 'Although, this loss me cause different types of problems' where punctuation and logical connectors are misused. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the sentence 'when humans cutt them they are responsible for the indirectly loss'. Cohesive devices are overused in a repetitive manner rather than applied flexibly, placing this response firmly in Band 6.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'biodiversity', 'deforestation', 'industrialization', and 'ecosystem'. However, there are frequent spelling errors ('Enviromental', 'amimals', 'taxons', 'cutt', 'me cause', 'againt', 'preserved', 'aanimals', 'hazardious', 'servuival', 'servial') and noticeable word-choice inaccuracies, such as 'taxons' instead of 'taxa' or 'species', 'powder plants' instead of 'power plants', and 'aqautic life destroy'. These errors do not completely impede communication because the context remains largely clear to the reader, but they prevent the writing from achieving a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use subordination and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text. There are numerous basic and complex grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('animals species has losted'), tense and modal errors ('this loss me cause', 'wildlife destroy'), and incorrect preposition or adverb usage ('indirectly loss'). Punctuation is also problematic, notably with sentence fragments and comma splices. While communication is rarely completely blocked, the high frequency of errors across sentences places the grammar score at Band 5.0.
