Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this contemporary era, some masses say that due to environmental issue palnts and animals and species loss in our time . However others say that the environmental problems are More crucial there .i will scrutinized about these in following paragraph.
first and foremost, many individuals think that the extinction of wildlife is the most urgent issue. Plants and animals form a delicate ecosystem, and if one species disappears, it can destroy the entire food chain. For example, if bees go extinct, many plants cannot reproduce, which can lead to a shortage of food for humans. Furthermore, many plants are used to create medicines for dangerous human illnesses, so losing them means losing possible cures. Therefore, protecting endangered species is essential for our planet's survival.
On the other hand, many people argue that other ecological challenges are more critical. Global warming is perhaps the most dangerous threat because it causes rising sea levels and extreme weather events. For instance, many countries now experience severe droughts or floods every year, which destroys homes and agriculture. Additionally, pollution in our air and oceans is causing serious health problems for millions of people. These issues do not just affect one specific species; they threaten the entire human civilization.
In conclusion, both sides have strong arguments. However, I believe that global warming and pollution are more critical environmental challenges than losing specific plants and animals. If we do not stop climate change first, we will not be able to save any wildlife anyway.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the loss of species versus broader environmental challenges like global warming—and clearly presents a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the length requirement is not met, as the response contains 249 words, which is one word short of the 250-word minimum. While the main ideas are relevant, some parts of the task are addressed more fully than others; for instance, the introductory paragraph contains confusing phrasing and mechanical sentence structures like 'due to environmental issue palnts and animals and species loss in our time', which leaves the initial overview somewhat under-developed before the body paragraphs successfully expand on the arguments. To reach a higher band, the student should ensure all introductory statements are fully developed, carefully check the word count to always surpass the minimum, and extend the supporting examples with greater depth.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression of ideas across paragraphs. The essay is divided into a suitable introduction, two distinct body paragraphs examining opposing views, and a concluding paragraph that summarises the discussion and delivers the writer's position. Cohesive devices such as 'first and foremost', 'Furthermore', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the arguments, though referencing and paragraphing show some mechanical tendencies. The progression from discussing species loss to global warming and finally to the conclusion flows adequately. To fully achieve the next band, the student needs to integrate cohesive devices more naturally and smoothly without relying on repetitive transitional formulas, ensuring that paragraph transitions feel entirely organic.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating a sufficient range to discuss environmental issues with terms such as 'ecosystem', 'endangered species', 'global warming', and 'extreme weather events'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items, but there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'palnts' (spelling), 'masses' used instead of 'people' or 'individuals', and awkward phrasings like 'environmental issue palnts and animals and species loss'. Spelling errors and word-formation slips occur, though they do not seriously impede communication. To improve this score to the next band, the student should expand their control of less common lexical items, ensure correct word forms and spellings, and select more natural collocations suitable for academic writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional structures and subordinate clauses such as 'if one species disappears, it can destroy the entire food chain' and 'if we do not stop climate change first, we will not be able to save any wildlife anyway'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including lowercase beginnings of sentences like '.i will scrutinized', awkward verb forms such as 'i will scrutinized about these', and minor structural slips. However, these errors rarely impede overall communication. To move into a higher band, the writer must demonstrate better control over complex sentence structures, eliminate basic punctuation and capitalization mistakes, and ensure consistent grammatical accuracy across all sentence types.
