Student answer (Band 5.0)
today world is passing through so many changes and challenges that may put our lifes in danger.however, there is a conflict between people thse days, there is a bunch of them that says that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Others say that there are more important environmental FIRSTLY,
it is real that in our time so many and different types of species animals or plants have either vanished or became so rare that we can find just one or two of them and the problem in that especially for animals is often the remaining ones they are either males or females they are no different in sex so there will not be any reproduction between them so we can assume 100% that the are going to go distinct ,and that's a really big problem cause who knows maybe one of the distinct plants can cure cancer or the salvia of that animal can cure diabetics (wich is real cause now we can cure diabetic with the salvia of some animals). SECONDLY,Sure there's a lot of other environmental problems in our planet like climate change Wich caused a lot of wether related problems , pollution and the rise of co2 quantity in our air wich is one of the biggest factor of pollution Wich leads us to the climate change problem and the most recent examples of those endangering problems is the heat wave that occured in Europe this last summer and caused one of the deadliest tragedies in our century so many people were burned alive so many of them lost their houses their belongings Wich is really sad.
Thirdly and lastly, for me i think there's no problem more crucial than the other one because if you concentrate and take a good look you realize that one problem lead to another one pollution caused by rising co2 lead to climate change, this one lead to the distinct of so many vulnerable species of plants and animals by changing the climate of natural habitat of these species wich lead to their disappearance,so we should consider All of these problems and solve them all together at once because there isn't one more crucial than the other.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views—the loss of species and other environmental problems—alongside the writer's own perspective. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed, keeping the task achievement at this level. For instance, while the writer mentions the potential of plant and animal cures for cancer and diabetes, this point is not fully extended with further explanation. Similarly, the discussion of climate change and recent heatwaves is somewhat generalised without deep elaboration. The student's position that all environmental issues are interconnected is presented towards the end, but the overall execution reflects a partial addressing of the prompt with restricted depth in argumentation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation evident in the essay, with clear signposting words like 'FIRSTLY', 'SECONDLY', and 'Thirdly and lastly' marking the different sections of the response. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the sequencing feels somewhat mechanical rather than naturally flowing. Cohesive devices are often inadequate or inaccurate, such as comma splices and run-on sentences linking independent clauses without appropriate conjunctions (e.g., 'today world is passing through so many changes and challenges that may put our lifes in danger.however, there is a conflict...'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the massive blocks of text lack refined internal cohesion and smooth transitions between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for communicating the basic ideas of the task. There are noticeable lexical errors and spelling mistakes throughout the text, such as 'lifes', 'thse', 'distinct' instead of 'extinct', 'salvia' instead of 'saliva', 'diabetics' instead of 'diabetes', 'wich', and 'wether'. These inaccuracies sometimes cause strain and difficulty for the reader. While the student attempts to use some less common subject-specific vocabulary like 'reproduction', 'climate change', and 'pollution', the lack of precision and frequent spelling errors restrict the lexical score to this band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on strings of clauses connected by commas rather than properly structured complex sentences. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to frequent grammatical errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. Issues include subject-verb agreement errors ('one problem lead', 'this one lead'), missing articles ('in our planet', 'climate of natural habitat'), incorrect capitalization and punctuation, and run-on sentences. Control of basic grammatical patterns and punctuation is inconsistent throughout the entire text.
