Student answer (Band 5.5)

Environment plays an important role for every living being , it helps to make life healthier . Over the period human beings have really taken environment forgranted and barely have taken care of the environment.

According to some people the prime environmental issue of this time is the distinction of the plants and animal species. They believe so because , animals and plants contributes to the cycle of earth and help to maintain the required balance in the ecosystem . The loss of particular species inturepts that cycle and creates unbalancing environment . For example in forest , there are herbivores and carnivores , herbivores needs plants for their survival and carnivores needs another animals including herivores for there food , distinction of any would effecct their lifestlye and ours as well , as increase or decrease in any of these species would not be considered good.Additionaly by losing these animals we are not only effecting ecosystem but we are also losing diversity . Every plant and animal benefits us and the motherland in some way , we are losing that benefit , which is leading to numerous dangerous changes . For example , loss of plants is really effecting human life , it is causing diseases and that can only be cured with the good environment .

Whereas, some people also believe that there are more important environmnetal problems such as air pollution , water pollution , humidity etc . I beleive same as well . In my opinion Air pollution is the major environmental problem , and should be considered first. It is ruining every life , humans , plants , animals , birds etc. Due to air pollution every day huge number of people are falling sick , birds are not able to fly , the inahaltion of polluted air are causing there death. The air we are inhaling is becoming poisson and causing asthamas and several other problems . It needs an immediate solution for the sevre probelms .

Hence , Air pollution is the more sevre problem then distinction of animals and plants , because air pollution is the major cause which cause another environmental problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that the loss of species is the main problem and that other issues are more significant—while also presenting a clear personal position in favour of air pollution being the primary concern. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the arguments regarding the ecosystem balance and diversity loss are introduced, some points are under-developed or repetitive, such as the general statements about plants causing diseases. To move to a higher level, the ideas need to be extended with deeper explanations and more specific, well-reasoned examples rather than relying on broad generalisations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing that separates the introduction, the discussion of the first view, the second view with the writer's opinion, and a brief conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'Additionaly' and 'Whereas' are used awkwardly or with spelling inaccuracies. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun ambiguity in sentences like 'distinction of any would effecct their lifestlye and ours as well'. Progression is present, but smoother transitions and more accurate use of cohesive devices are needed to achieve a more unified flow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'ecosystem', 'diversity', and 'herbivores'. However, there are noticeable limitations and persistent errors in word choice, spelling, and word form. For example, 'distinction' is misused in place of 'extinction', 'inturepts' is misspelled for 'interrupts', 'effecct' for 'affect', and 'poisson' for 'poison'. Expressions like 'taken environment forgranted' also show lapses in standard collocations. These errors reflect a limited control of less common lexical items, though communication of the main ideas is generally maintained despite the vocabulary flaws.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and causal relationships. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that restrict control. Issues include subject-verb agreement errors such as 'herbivores needs', incorrect article usage like 'in forest', and numerous punctuation errors involving spacing before commas. While these grammatical shortcomings rarely completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to detract from the overall clarity and accuracy of the writing, keeping the control firmly rooted in the intermediate range.
