Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is believed by a few individuals that the main enviromental problem is the loss of particular species of plants and animals in present, while others argue that there are more other important enviromental problems. In this essay I will discuss why I agree with those people who believed there are more enviromental problems and discuss my own point of view.

On the one hand, some people think that there is only enviroment problem is loss of species of animals and plants. To elaborate it, many authorities who holds the forests they cutting down the trees without caring about the environment. They replaces the forests by build others buildings. It is also difficuly for animals who live in the forests. Authorities killed the wild animals for reclacing the forests to build public sectors. Moreover, government did id not take steps to increase plants on the public places and strictly told people's to planting at least two tree at their homes.

On the other hand, there are many other reasons which effect on the species of plants and animals. For instance, in this era, there are number of factories build in every city. Which cause pollution and can be affected animals and plants. They feel difficulty to live because these factories produce a huge amount of pollution which mixed with the air and cause environmental probles. They feel difficulkty in breathing. Moreover, people have to go on their jobs, works and children go to their schools on transports which can also polluted air and can be harmful.

In conclusion, I believe that there are more other problems that affect enviromen

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially. Note that 10 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. The writer attempts to discuss both views regarding environmental problems and provides an opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the position is not always clear, and the ideas are limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on the first view lacks clear elaboration and contains confused arguments about authorities cutting down forests. Similarly, the arguments supporting the alternative view are repetitive and lack sufficient support or relevant examples, leading to an incomplete conclusion that trails off abruptly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation with the use of standard transitional markers like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', but there is no clear overall progression throughout the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the paragraphs contain disjointed ideas and mechanical, repetitive cohesive devices. Referencing is frequently unclear, such as when pronouns like 'They' and 'Which' lack clear antecedents, causing confusion for the reader. The text also lacks a fully formed concluding paragraph, which disrupts the logical flow and overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited in range, though minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as repeatedly spelling 'enviromental' and 'enviromen' incorrectly, and using awkward phrases like 'more other important' and 'reclacing the forests'. Less common lexical items are attempted but often misapplied, such as 'public sectors' instead of public spaces, and 'difficulkty'. These lexical inaccuracies restrict the precision of the argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response shows a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences, while attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors that can cause difficulty for the reader, including errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many authorities who holds', 'government did id not take steps'), incorrect prepositions, and structural fragments (e.g., fragments starting with 'Which cause' and 'Which mixed with'). Punctuation is also weak, particularly with run-on sentences and incorrect comma usage, further impacting the clarity of the writing.
