Student answer (Band 4.5)
Some people argue that the loss of particular species of plants and animals are the most crucial enviromental problem. while other arguments are that there are other certain issues in our societies. It is widely believed that there are lots of challenges in our enviroment which should be resolved. This essay will discuss both the opinions before presenting my own point of view.
To begin with the arguments of those who describe that the main issue is the curtailing of species of both plants and animals, plants and animals have a very good impact on enviroment especially plants keep areas cool and give some green views. For example, plants in our area give us much cooler shadows and great time to set in and enjoy our time and also gloroius views and peace as well. It will effect the humidity of our living areas.
On the other hand, there are certain issues like not throwing garbages into the bins and do not taking care by ourselves. Following this, if we will using the designated bins for waste products and making following the rules and regulation which are implemented by the government, it will keep our people in good manners and our enviroment will be safe.
In conclusion, losing plants and animals species are the critical issue but from my point of view this is not the only twos to be safer but there are also much more things which we should have to take care of, then our enviroment will be very clean and safe.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response sits at a lower level because it responds to the task only minimally and fails to meet the required word count of 250 words, coming in at 246 words. Note that 9 words copied directly from the task prompt were not counted. While the writer attempts to discuss both views regarding environmental problems and mentions the loss of species alongside other issues, the ideas are heavily limited and under-developed. For example, the argument regarding other issues shifts vaguely to 'not throwing garbages into the bins and do not taking care by ourselves,' which lacks sufficient explanation, relevant examples, and adequate extension. The writer's position is discernible in the conclusion, but overall the development is weak, resulting in only partial coverage of the task prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text displays some basic organization, featuring an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, which places it in the mid-range for this criterion. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas throughout the essay. While basic cohesive devices are attempted, such as 'To begin with' and 'On the other hand', referencing and logical connections between sentences are frequently faulty or repetitive. For instance, the transition into the second body paragraph's examples relies on repetitive and unclear phrasing like 'plants in our area give us much cooler shadows and great time to set in'. Paragraphing is used to separate the different sections of the essay, but the internal flow within paragraphs remains mechanical and lacks adequate cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, utilizing a limited range that is only minimally adequate for addressing the topic. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and strain comprehension. Examples include spelling errors such as 'enviromental' and 'gloroius', alongside awkward lexical collocations like 'curtailing of species' and 'not throwing garbages into the bins'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, but these attempts are marred by inaccurate forms, such as using 'twos' instead of a correct noun phrase in the concluding remarks, reflecting limitations in vocabulary control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentence forms while attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions that can cause difficulty for the reader. For instance, the opening sentence contains a direct agreement error: 'the loss of particular species of plants and animals are the most crucial enviromental problem', where the plural verb is mismatched with the singular head noun or plural complement. Other structural errors include faulty verb forms like 'if we will using' and 'do not taking care', as well as missing articles and awkward prepositional usage within grammatical patterns.
