Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the prompt only partially and fails to meet the required word count, containing only 212 words instead of the minimum 250. While both views are mentioned, the ideas are limited and under-developed, lacking specific examples or detailed elaboration. The writer's position is stated, such as in the sentence 'From my perspective, The major environmental issue is the extinction of specific speies of plants and animals,' but it remains basic throughout the essay. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to expand the discussion with well-supported arguments and meet the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation with basic paragraphing and general attempts at linking ideas, such as 'On the other hand' and 'In conclusion.' However, there is no clear overall progression, and the sequencing of ideas feels repetitive, particularly in the second and final paragraphs. Cohesive devices are sometimes used inaccurately or mechanically, and referencing is not always clear. To improve, the writer should ensure each paragraph introduces distinct, progressively developed points and utilise a wider range of cohesive devices smoothly without repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word form, choice, and spelling, such as 'extinct' instead of 'extinction,' 'speies,' 'severaln,' and 'maajor.' These errors reflect a restricted range of vocabulary where attempts at less common words often fail. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire, pay closer attention to word classes, and eliminate basic spelling mistakes that occasionally impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences, while attempts at more complex structures are frequently faulty, such as in 'there's also some other environmental problem as well which are most important.' Frequent errors are present in verb forms, articles, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'environmental changes that happens' and 'this this the maajor one.' These errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. Incorporating a wider variety of grammatical structures with greater accuracy is necessary for improvement.
