Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response attempts both sides of the question: it discusses the loss of plant and animal species, then pollution and traffic, and it includes examples such as reduced oxygen and harmful vehicle gases. However, the discussion is only partial and the ideas are often unclear or insufficiently explained. For instance, the claim that fewer animal species mean people cannot obtain “milk, butter and yogurt” does not clearly explain how species loss causes this problem. The conclusion also does not give a clear, reasoned opinion about which environmental problems are more important; it mainly repeats that plants, animals and pollution affect people. State your position directly and develop each main point with a clear cause-and-effect explanation. (The response meets the required length; 10 words copied from the task prompt were excluded from the count.)

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Basic signposting such as “To begin with,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” helps readers identify the sections. However, there is no clear progression within several paragraphs: ideas are repeated or placed beside one another without showing how they connect. For example, the first body paragraph moves from plant loss and oxygen to health, then to animal products, but the links between these points are not made clear. The examples introduced by “For example” and “For instance” often repeat or confuse the preceding claim. Use fewer points, connect each explanation explicitly to its main idea, and make the conclusion follow from the comparison in the body.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a basic range of topic vocabulary, including “species,” “pollution,” “oxygen,” “environmental problems,” and “harmful gases,” so the general subject is usually identifiable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several word choices or collocations make meaning difficult to follow. “Social cause” is used where the task concerns environmental problems, while “the animal species are lack” and “provide many species” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “indviduals,” “increse,” “prespectives,” and “peopel.” Build a more accurate set of environmental terms and check spelling; also choose precise phrases such as “decline in species” and “vehicle emissions” rather than repeating broad words like “problem” and “impact.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts some longer sentences and linking structures, but sentence forms are limited and errors are frequent enough to make several relationships unclear. Examples include “the animal and plants is,” “they are provide,” and “This essay will be discuss,” which show problems with agreement and verb forms. The sentence “Many types of plant is less, and due to the oxygen is decrese day by day” also has faulty clause construction, making the intended cause-and-effect relationship difficult to understand. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries are inconsistent as well. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “which,” or “as a result.” Proofread each sentence for a clear subject, correctly formed verb, and complete clause.
