Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is narrated that the loss of specific species of plants and animals are the main environmental problem of this era. While their is a group of people that thinks that there exists other major environmental problems. This essay will discuss both viewpoints and present a positive prespective.

On one hand, the people that thinks that the biggest environmental problem in this present time is the lost of biodiversity. With no check and balance on the wild life as well as hotriculture leads to a significant problem. It is true to some extend as in recent times it is seem that due to increase in human population, the forest are been used to fulfill human needs, weather converting them to residentail area or for the industrial purpose. Both lead to the massive decline to biodiversity that is causing major environmental proplems such as lack of natural food etc.

On the other hand, there is a group who says that there are much more reason that are causing environmental proplems. Like global warming is one of the most alarming isuue which should be noted. Over the past few years, the temperature of earth is rising that is effecting the survial of habitat. The melting of glaciours not only causes the floods on high level but also directly ruining the land used for cultivation, residance and many other activities. For example, last year the flood in Pakistan damages the major housing socieities leads to the people homeless, then creates a significant setback to the agricultural land in southern Punjab.

In conclusion, both avtivities are the major reason to environmental problem but in my prespective, I would choose the other problem including global warming as it is the most alarming environmental problem to this world right now.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and give a clear preference for global warming in the conclusion, so the response covers the main parts of the task. The biodiversity paragraph offers relevant causes—forest conversion for housing and industry—and links these to species decline. The discussion of global warming is more developed, with effects on habitats, flooding and agriculture, supported by the Pakistan example. However, the first view is less fully explained: “lack of natural food” is mentioned but not clarified, and the opening claim about “no check and balance” is difficult to interpret. To strengthen the response further, explain more precisely why species loss is especially serious and compare its consequences with those of climate change before stating your preference.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each viewpoint, and a conclusion that returns to your opinion. “On one hand” and “On the other hand” make the contrast easy to follow, while the Pakistan example is placed appropriately within the discussion of global warming. Some links are less smooth or precise, however. The opening sentence of the second body paragraph, “Like global warming is one of the most alarming issue,” is a fragment, and “Both lead” does not clearly identify which two causes it refers to. The conclusion also repeats the broad claim that both are major problems without drawing together the comparison. Use clearer references and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “biodiversity,” “melting of glaciers,” “cultivation” and “agricultural land,” which helps communicate the environmental discussion. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general terms such as “problem” and “major,” and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to understand. For example, “no check and balance on the wildlife as well as horticulture” does not express a clear environmental cause, while “the lost of biodiversity” and “survial of habitat” are not appropriate forms. Spelling errors such as “prespective,” “isuue” and “glaciours” are also noticeable. Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures such as “due to increase in human population” and a relative clause in “which should be noted.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “the loss … are,” “the people that thinks,” and “the forest are been used,” which show problems with agreement and verb forms. The sentence beginning “Like global warming” is incomplete, and the long sentence about the Pakistan floods has an unclear grammatical connection between the damage and the resulting homelessness. Work on subject–verb agreement, complete sentence construction, and accurate clause linking; then proofread articles and verb forms.
