Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many countries of the world, some people argued that loss of specific species of both animals and plants have the major environment problem for deforestation. While, other argue that they have many other significant environmental problem for health problem. However, they have many environment problem for ecosystem damage.

On the one hand, the supporters of the idea loss of particular species is the major problem of environmental believe that deforestation is the main cause. As people cut the trees they destroy the production of plants and home of animal. Take an example, the specie of white lion have not long found in the forest of Africa because the government clean the almost 60% of the forest area. Thus, the supporters of this view support their finding back their analysis with valid arguments.

Meanwhile on the other hand, the advocates of the view that they have many other problem of this issue believe that health problem is another problem. As environment directly effect human nerves system that is cause of health problem. For instance, many people of the Japan, suffer in the health problem because the environment of this country has suddenly change. Hence, this view also seems to carry a lot weightage and valid point.

However, I believe that they have many other problem for ecosystem effect. As environment effect the weather circumstance.

To sum up, even though loss specific problem, but I believe that they have many other issue of the environmental problem for ecosystem damage and health problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You attempt to discuss both views and give your opinion, so the response is relevant to the question. The first body paragraph links species loss to deforestation, while the next introduces health problems, and you state that ecosystem damage is your own concern. However, the discussion is only partial: the second view is not clearly explained as a comparison with species loss, and your opinion is brief and not consistently clear. The example about white lions and forest clearance is difficult to verify and does not explain the connection in enough detail; the Japan example is also vague. Develop each view with a clear reason and a specific, explained example, then state directly which environmental problem you consider most serious and why.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion, which gives it some basic organisation. The two main views are introduced in sequence, and phrases such as “On the one hand” and “To sum up” signal stages of the essay. However, progression is not clear throughout: “Meanwhile on the other hand” repeats the same contrast, and the final opinion paragraph is too short to connect your reasoning to the conclusion. Several references, including “they” and “this issue,” have unclear antecedents, making it hard to follow which problems or people you mean. Use one clear transition for each shift, make references explicit, and organise each body paragraph around one claim followed by its explanation and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “deforestation,” “species,” “ecosystem damage” and “environmental problem,” so the subject is recognisable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “advocates of the view.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural combinations make meaning difficult to follow, for example “production of plants,” “carry a lot weightage,” and “environment directly effect human nerves system.” The repeated use of “problem” also makes the argument sound imprecise. Build a more varied set of accurate environmental terms and check collocations in context; for instance, explain habitat destruction, biodiversity loss or effects on human health using natural phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “As” and a contrast introduced by “While.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. Examples include “loss … have the major,” “As environment directly effect,” and “the environment of this country has suddenly change,” which show problems with agreement, verb forms and articles. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “While, other argue…” and the comma after “Japan.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check singular and plural subjects, verb endings and tense, and avoid starting a sentence with a dependent clause unless it is completed.
