Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people argued that climate cahnge is a big loss to disappeare different species while others believe that air pollution changes the whole ecosystem. i This essay will discuss both points as in my opinion, different species and climate chage are the main threats which are creating unbalanced in environment.

On the one hand, air pollution is causing to death of different species. The reason is that air is making rivers full of garbage and creating breathing problems. For example, climate change make globa;l warming and reasons of flood while these threats cause the animals to die.

On the other hand, Plants and naimals keep nature in balanced. Plants provides specific nutrients and cabon dioxide for medicians. For example, hurbes useage in different medicians. these medicians will use to cure a disease. For example, bees are essential for pollinting crops and there reduction directly threatens global food production.

In conclusion, loosing plants and animals are creating real problems and harm to local ecosystem. I believe local climate change is more urgent problem. It threatens both human civilization and natural environment on the global scale.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a position in the introduction and conclusion, and you attempt to discuss both species loss and wider environmental threats. The examples about bees and crop pollination and about medicinal plants are relevant. However, the discussion is only partial: the first body paragraph focuses on air pollution but then shifts to climate change, without clearly explaining how either represents the view that other environmental problems are more important. Your opinion also changes emphasis, moving from species loss and climate change as joint threats to climate change as the more urgent one. Ideas are brief and under-developed, and the response does not meet the required minimum of 250 words. Develop each side with a clear explanation and a specific example, then state and maintain a precise position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help identify the two sides. However, progression within paragraphs is not always clear. In the first body paragraph, air pollution is introduced, but the explanation then refers to rivers, breathing problems, climate change and floods without showing how these points connect. The second paragraph moves from plants and nutrients to medicines and then bees, so its central focus becomes difficult to follow. Some linking is also mechanical, particularly the repeated “For example.” Group related points together, use each paragraph to develop one main idea, and make references between sentences explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “ecosystem,” “global warming,” “pollinating crops” and “global food production,” which shows some awareness of the language needed for this subject. However, the range is limited and errors in spelling, word form and collocation are noticeable, sometimes making meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “disappeare,” “naimals,” “hurbes useage,” and “creating unbalanced in environment.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “air is making rivers full of garbage,” which does not clearly express the intended environmental process. Build a bank of accurate topic collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise choices would help you explain causes and consequences clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use some simple sentences and attempt more complex structures, such as “I believe local climate change is more urgent problem” and the clause beginning “For example, bees are essential…”. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to follow. For instance, “Plants provides” has subject–verb disagreement, while “air pollution is causing to death” uses an incorrect grammatical pattern. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “more urgent problem” and “breathing problems. For example.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and verb patterns, and separate sentences with appropriate punctuation. Aim to make basic sentence structures reliable before adding more complex clauses.
