Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is a debate among individuals some believes that the factor about environmental issues are the loss of particular plants and animals, While other argue that there are another issues which cause environmental problems. In the given this essay i will discuss both views and I will provide my personal opinion.

On the one hand, the loss of species of some plants and animals is a serious environmental problem. Many species are becoming endangered because of deforestation, hunting and climate change. If a species extinct it can disturb the natural food chain and damage the balance if ecosystem. For instance, The disappearances of bees can affect the pollination of many plants and can reduced the food Therefore, protecting the endangered species is important for both nature and human being.

On the other hand, there are other environmental problems that can have a wider and more direct effect on people's lives. Air pollution, global warming and water pollution are major examples. Air pollution can cause serious health problems, while global warming can lead to extreme weather, rising temperatures and melting glaciers. In addition, polluted water can spread diseases and reduce access to safe drinking water. These problems affect millions of people around the world, so I believe they deserve greater attention.

In conclusion, the loss of plant and animal species

is an important environmental issue because it can damage ecosystems. Nevertheless, I believe that problems such as air pollution, global warming and water pollution are more important because they have a wider impact on both humans and the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and give a clear opinion: the first body paragraph explains how species loss can disrupt food chains, while the second argues that pollution and climate change affect people more widely. The examples of bees and polluted water are relevant, and your conclusion restates your position. This meets the task well overall. However, the discussion is uneven: the species-loss argument is less fully explained, and the bee example is cut off before its consequence is clearly stated. To strengthen the response, develop the comparison more explicitly—for example, explain how biodiversity loss can also affect food security or ecosystem services, then show why the other problems have broader effects. This would make the ideas more fully supported and balanced.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from species loss to wider environmental threats is easy to follow, and phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. Some cohesion is less controlled, however. The opening sentence is difficult to follow, and the example paragraph contains a broken connection in “can reduced the food Therefore,” which interrupts the reader’s understanding. Use linking expressions to show cause and result, and check that each example forms a complete sequence of claim, explanation, and consequence. This would make the organisation smoother and less dependent on formulaic transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “endangered,” “deforestation,” “food chain,” “air pollution,” and “safe drinking water.” These terms make the main ideas clear, and some choices, such as “wider and more direct effect,” help express your comparison. There are also several inaccurate or awkward choices that limit precision: “the factor about environmental issues,” “the disappearances of bees,” and “damage the balance if ecosystem.” The phrase “can reduced the food” is also incomplete and unclear. Aim for more natural collocations and check word forms and spelling. For example, “the loss of biodiversity” and “disrupt the ecosystem’s balance” would express your ideas more precisely and appropriately for this topic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional and cause-and-effect structures: “If a species extinct it can disturb…” and “Air pollution can cause serious health problems, while global warming can lead to…” The latter is clear and well controlled. However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries reduce accuracy. For instance, “some believes” should use a plural verb, and “If a species extinct” needs a verb such as “becomes extinct.” The sentence beginning “For instance” runs into “Therefore” without clear punctuation, and “can reduced” has an incorrect verb form. Review these patterns and proofread sentence boundaries; greater accuracy alongside your existing range would strengthen the writing.
