Student answer (Band 5.5)

Most of the people believe that the loss of particular species of plants and animals is a primary issue of our environmental problem. However, an alternative perspective of the people claims that there are more crucial environmental problem. Before giving my opinion this essay will discuss both perspectives. Frankly speaking, i believe that its important to pay more attention towards plants and animal species.

One contributing factor, is that the loss of particular species of plants and animals can effect numerous things like food chain, rain and more like that. From this point of view i would say that if the numbers of animal extinct gonna increase; than for sure, it will effect human life along with that, food chain as well. However, loss of partucular plants can be effective too. For instance, if the species of deer will be extinct; than it will effect food chain. It will effect on animals like lions, tigers and numerous like that. Because their one primary source is deer; which they can hunt easily and can digest easily. Along with that, the loss of specific plant species can effect rain, forest area and more.

An opposing point of view, claims that there are more important environmental problems to discuss and need to pay attention towards it. I am partly agreed with this perpective. However, I am totally agreed that there are more significant environmental problems than the loss of animals and plants; namely forest distruction, earthquake and more like that. Nevertheless, earthquake is a natural disaster but it damages too much too human life. In addition, forest distruction is also one of the crucial factor; which effects wildlife.

To conclude, although most of the people consider that there are many significant environmental problems along with that, most of the people believe that the loss of particular species of plants and animals is one of the crucial point of envirnmental problems. However, i would say i believe that the loss of plants and animals need to get more attention as compared to other problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state a preference for giving greater attention to species loss, so the response is relevant to the question. The first main paragraph offers a reason—effects on food chains—and an example involving deer and predators. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the claim that plant loss affects rain and forests is not explained, while the opposing view is supported mainly by naming forest destruction and earthquakes. Earthquakes are natural disasters rather than a clear example of an environmental problem comparable to the others, and their relevance needs clarification. Your position also shifts: you say you “partly” agree with the opposing view, then say you “totally” agree there are more significant problems, before concluding that species loss deserves more attention. Make your opinion consistent and explain the comparison more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and several links are repetitive or unclear. Phrases such as “Along with that,” “However,” and “From this point of view” recur without always showing the precise relationship between ideas. The deer example is followed by a broad claim about plants, but the connection is not developed. The conclusion repeats both sides rather than clearly resolving the contrast. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s central point, then connect each example directly to that point; also use pronouns and linking expressions only when their references are clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “food chain,” “species,” “wildlife,” and “natural disaster,” which makes the subject understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “loss of particular species,” “effect,” and “more like that.” Some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “forest distruction,” “primary issue of our environmental problem,” and “pay more attention towards.” Spelling errors, including “partucular,” “perpective,” and “envirnmental,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise environmental vocabulary and check spelling carefully. For example, distinguish habitat destruction from natural disasters, and use established phrases such as “biodiversity loss” and “disrupt food webs” rather than relying on general wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “although,” “if,” and “because.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. Examples include “if the numbers of animal extinct gonna increase,” “than for sure,” and “it will effect on animals,” which show problems with verb forms, clause construction, and sentence patterns. There are also recurring issues with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “an alternative perspective of the people claims” and the comma after “One contributing factor.” Practise building accurate conditional sentences and checking subject–verb agreement. For instance: “If a species becomes extinct, predators that depend on it may lose a major food source.”
