Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You attempt to discuss both views and give a personal opinion, so the response is recognisably connected to the question. However, the two positions are not explained clearly or developed with relevant support. The paragraph about species mentions their roles in providing food and fresh air, but the claim that they “could not our time loss” is difficult to understand and does not explain why species loss is the main problem. The discussion of other environmental problems focuses briefly on air pollution, while your opinion shifts to vehicle fumes without comparing its importance with biodiversity loss. To strengthen the response, explain each view directly, give a specific example, and state a clear, consistent position supported by reasons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “To sum up” show an attempt to organise the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: the first body paragraph moves from species’ importance to tree removal and government plans without explaining the connection. Some linking phrases are repetitive or do not express a clear relationship, and references such as “these views” and “this problem” can be difficult to follow. The conclusion repeats the topic but does not clearly bring together the two sides or your opinion. Build each paragraph around one main point, then connect its explanation and example explicitly.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “environmental system,” “species,” “air pollution” and “transportation,” which helps identify the subject. However, the range is basic and several inaccurate word choices, collocations and spellings strain the reader’s understanding. Examples include “breath gas,” “wearing winter collection,” “fumes widespread our surrounding” and “breathes”; these do not express the intended ideas naturally. Repeated use of “problem” and “varieties” also limits precision. Learn common environmental collocations and check spelling and word forms. For example, describe plants as producing oxygen, animals as providing food or materials, and vehicle emissions as affecting air quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You use some simple sentences and attempt longer structures, including “Some people say that…” and “From my point of view…”. However, grammatical control is limited, and frequent errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to recover. For example, “the important environmental of our time is the loss” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “the species … could not our time loss” has an incomplete verb pattern. Other examples include “The air pollution one of the biggest problem” and “this problem detrimental impacts our environment,” where sentence structure and agreement are faulty. Practise forming complete subject–verb sentences, using articles and plural forms accurately, and punctuating clauses so that each idea is clear.
