Student answer (Band 5.5)

Although life on this planet exists though a complete ecosytem which is dependent on several distinct living organisms including plants and animals. Therefore, according to certain individuals extinction of some particular species of living organisms is the fundamental environmental issue, while others argue that many other environmental problems should be consider. In this essay I will represent my perspective on this matter followed by explaining these two view points.

On the one hand, we are already familiar with some extinct species, not only the dinasours but also some birds and wild animal species. Most probably the reason is human activities. The excessive hunting and distruption in their habitate is the main cause of their loss. Even though they were not providing us some direct benefits such as cattles and edible plants. Nevertheless, it does not mean this land is not belongs to them. The high authorities should take some legal actions against these acts which contribute in the extinction of species which are become rare with time. However, their loss is impacting adversely in the ecosystem which will eventually influence our lives severely.

On the other hand, people are living their lives with numerour crisis including poverty, unempolyment, and unforseen disasters which affect our lives brutally. We should pay attention to these alarming events. Everyone desire to have prosperity in their life. Merely, people especially in the developing countries are suffering substantially. And these are the envirnomental issues which required more attention.

From my perspective, I am concerned among both views should considered. Where it is crucial to bring some official measures to avoid the lose of living being other than human, meanwhile its also essential to focus of other environmental issues which impact in a negative way on our lives.

In conclusion, I believe that nobody own this planet, animals and plants have the equal rights to survive as human, additionally gradually it affect our ecosystem. Therefore, it can be a major obstracle for us. However, other environemtal issues particularly those that directly effect human should be explored.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and give a position: you argue that species loss harms ecosystems, while other environmental concerns also deserve attention. The discussion of hunting and habitat disruption is relevant, and the conclusion restates the idea that both issues matter. However, the response only partially develops the task. The second view is illustrated mainly with poverty, unemployment and disasters, without explaining clearly which environmental problems these refer to or why they are more important than species loss. Your own position is also difficult to interpret in places, especially “I am concerned among both views should considered.” Develop each side with a specific environmental example and explain your comparison more directly to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your perspective, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. However, some links are mechanical or do not express the relationship between ideas accurately. For example, “Even though…” is followed by “Nevertheless,” creating an awkward contrast, and “And these are the environmental issues” does not clearly connect poverty and unemployment to environmental problems. The perspective paragraph also repeats the two-sided position without developing the progression. Use clearer references and transitions, and make each paragraph build logically toward your final comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “extinction,” “ecosystem,” “excessive hunting,” “habitat,” and “legal actions,” which helps communicate the subject. There is also some variety in expressions such as “alarming events” and “prosperity.” However, the range is limited by repeated general terms such as “issues” and “problems,” and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make meaning less clear. For instance, “unforeseen disasters” is not explained as an environmental concern, while “the loss of living being” is imprecise. Spelling errors such as “ecosyetm,” “dinasours,” and “envirnomental” are noticeable. Aim for precise environmental vocabulary and check spelling and natural word combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning “Although” and “while,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors recur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “Although life on this planet exists though…” combines two incompatible clause patterns, while “the high authorities should take” and “these issues…required” show problems with article use and tense. In “it does not mean this land is not belongs to them,” the verb pattern is incorrect, and “I am concerned among both views should considered” is difficult to understand. Practise building accurate subordinate clauses and checking subject–verb agreement and verb patterns before adding complexity.
