Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is undeniable that the main reason of the environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. While some people often argued that there are many more problems which causes the environmental. This essay will not only discussed the both views but also my opinion in the favour of statement that there are many more problems campared to loss of particular species in the forthcoming paragraphs with a logical conclusion.
On the one hand, loss of individuals species of plants and animals can't be ignored, it is important to focus on this problem. To explain it, when a particular species loss its existence it has a broad effect on food chain, its prey will be increased rapidly which can create a issue of over population. For example- in some areas of the world birds are losing their species, they are left in a tiny amount which causes the problem of expansion in population of insects and also it has a effect on agricultural because insects are adapting crops for their survival.
On the other hand, in recent times pollution is the major problem for causing environment. Many new factories are established in the name of development, but in facts factories are causing pollution at a large scale not only air pollution but also water pollution. To justify it, water that has been used in factories are released in the rivers and lakes which are very harmful for the aquatic animals and also for the humans. Moreover, climate change is unpredictable nowdays, global temperatures is rising and weather has no fixed pattern. For example- in some areas there is unusual heavy rainfalls and in some areas there are high temperatures.
In conclusion, it is important to focus on loses of particular species but other problems like pollution and climate change cannot be ignored. According to my perspective, science should solve the problem of de-extinction of species but it is necessary to focus on other environmental problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear opinion: the first body paragraph explains why species loss matters, while the second presents pollution and climate change as broader concerns. The food-chain example and the discussion of factory waste make the response relevant to the task. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the explanation of species loss is difficult to follow in places, and the final suggestion about “de-extinction” is introduced without explaining how it would address the problem. Your opening also briefly calls species loss the “main reason” before supporting the opposite view, which makes your position less consistent. Make your stance clear from the outset and extend each example with a precise explanation of its impact.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some links between ideas are mechanical or unclear. For example, the opening sentence says species loss is the main problem, but the next sentence introduces the opposing view without clearly establishing the essay’s position. Within the first body paragraph, the movement from species decline to insect numbers and crop damage needs clearer explanation. Use pronouns and linking phrases carefully, and organise each body paragraph around one main claim followed by a clearly connected explanation and example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant environmental vocabulary, including “food chain,” “over population,” “air pollution,” “aquatic animals,” and “global temperatures,” which allows you to discuss both views. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “de-extinction” and “weather has no fixed pattern.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “main reason of the environmental problem,” “loss of individuals species,” and “insects are adapting crops.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “campared,” “nowdays,” and “loses” also reduce precision. Build a more reliable range of topic collocations and check spelling and word forms; this will make your meaning clearer without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional explanation (“when a particular species loss its existence…”) and a contrast structure beginning “not only… but also.” These attempts show some range, but control is uneven, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “problems which causes,” “This essay will not only discussed,” and “global temperatures is rising,” where agreement or verb forms are incorrect. Articles and plurals also need attention, as in “a issue” and “individuals species.” Some sentences run together, particularly the opening of the first body paragraph, so punctuation and sentence boundaries should be checked. Practise accurate complex clauses and review subject–verb agreement, tense, and articles.
