Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the issue of species loss and give a relevant reason for protecting plants and animals: some plant species are used in medicine. However, the response addresses only one side of the question. It does not explain what other environmental problems may be more important, and your position, “I partially agree with them,” is not clarified or supported. The example about Chinese people using herbs is brief and does not show how this supports your overall view. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, so there is not enough development to fulfil the task. To improve, discuss both views, state your opinion clearly, and develop each main point with explanation and a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces the topic, and the next paragraph begins to explain the importance of species loss. The example about medicinal plants is connected to that point. However, the response stops before establishing a clear progression through the task: there is no paragraph presenting the opposing view or a concluding summary. Connections between ideas are also limited, with “But” doing most of the work of signalling contrast. The long final sentence joins several claims without clearly showing how they relate. Use separate paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and connect supporting explanations with clear references and linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “species,” “environment,” “medicine,” “diseases,” and “herbs,” which allows the reader to understand the general subject. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “different species” and “different ways.” Spelling errors in “diferent,” “relaed,” “benificial,” and “chinies” are noticeable, while “environmental loss” is not a natural way to describe the disappearance of species. Aim for more precise topic language, such as “biodiversity,” “species extinction,” and “medicinal plants.” Check spelling carefully and choose collocations that express your meaning naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a reason-and-example structure beginning “because” and “For example.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but control is uneven. The opening construction “Some people agree on the main environmental problem is…” is not grammatically complete; use “Some people agree that…” instead. In “they are beneficial for us…and its helpful,” the pronoun reference and agreement are inconsistent, and the sentence needs clearer punctuation. The final sentence also combines several ideas with commas, making the relationships difficult to follow. Practise accurate clause structures, consistent pronouns, and sentence boundaries, then use a wider range of complex forms with reliable control.
