Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In my opinion, both of these views are right and they just see the situation from a different perspective.

Firstly, the loss of our particular species of plants and animals is a huge issues faced the natural system, and this is because of the illegal hunting by some people which they don't deserve to be called a hunters.

In addition, the loss of this two basics of nature is a direct reason to the destruction of the natural system, because there's a series of animals that eat each other if you kill one of them , many of them wouldn't find food and that's leads the their death, and also the cutting of trees and plants to use it by some categories in theirs business to gain profits this is considered as the main reason for the weather changing.

Furthermore, there's an amount of another environmental problems , such as pollution which is caused by factories and cars and by human being in general.

Next , we shouldn't forget about the daily activities of some people's as an example the random throwing of the garbage this leads to spread health issues and the spread of the stink smell in the streets.

Finally, I would say that there's many of other reasons that can destroyed the environmental system, and as civilized citizens we must aware people about the danger od this actions to keep our system safe and our ourselves healthy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views by discussing species loss and other problems such as pollution and litter, and you give a position in the opening: “both of these views are right.” However, the discussion is only partial and the position is not fully explained. The response mainly lists causes and effects rather than showing why one problem might be more important, and examples such as illegal hunting and factory pollution are not developed with specific evidence. The link between cutting trees and “weather changing” also needs clearer explanation. The response is 10 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop the discussion. To strengthen the answer, explain each view in more depth, compare their significance, and support your opinion with a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the opening states a general position, and the body moves from species loss to other environmental problems before a concluding sentence. Linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “In addition,” and “Furthermore” help signal these shifts. However, the overall progression is not always clear because several different points are crowded into long sentences, particularly the discussion of food chains, tree cutting, and climate. The response also relies heavily on sequencing words, while connections between ideas are sometimes unclear; for example, “Next” introduces litter without showing how it relates to the previous point. Use separate paragraphs for the two views, develop one main idea at a time, and make references such as “this” and “these actions” more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “illegal hunting,” “pollution,” “factories,” and “garbage.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “natural system” and “health issues.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. For instance, “a huge issues faced the natural system” and “the stink smell” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “weather changing” is also imprecise in this context. Repetition of “loss,” “reason,” and “spread” further limits flexibility. Build a bank of accurate environmental collocations and check word forms and spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure beginning “because there's a series of animals that eat each other.” This shows an effort to connect ideas rather than relying only on short statements. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and verb forms can make the reader work to understand the message. Examples include “a huge issues,” “this two basics,” “that’s leads,” and “there’s many.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, as in the long sentence about animals and food, where a comma is used before a new clause. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms, and divide long sentences into shorter, complete units.
