Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, some people argues that the main environmental concerns of our time is the loss of biodiversity, while other suggest that there are more other crucial problems related to environment. It is widely believed that this issue has become increasingly significant in all modern society. Some people believe that the loss of particular plants and animals which is essential for the sustainable environment is a prime issue, while other say that there are more other important factors such as cimate change and global warming. This essay will discuss both opinions before giving my own view.
Some people believe that the loss of particular plants and animals are the major environmental problem. They argue this because the loss of biodiversity puts a major risk on our world. For instance, the loss of animals which eat harmful species is essential, while the plants are a great source of oxygen and food for humans. Therefore, they both are dispensable factors for the protection of environment.
Others, however, claim that climate change and global warming are prime issues related to the environment. For example, the climate change like floods and droughts are most dangerous for the environment. As a result, this may lead to shortage of food across the world. The climate change is happen because of global warming.
From my perspective, climate change and global warming are prime issues for our environment. This is mainly beacuse it has more negative effects on the environment recently.
In conclusion, some people say that the loss of plants and animals are prime concerns for the environmenmt, while other argues that climate change and global warming are major problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views by discussing biodiversity loss and climate change, and you state a preference for the latter: “From my perspective, climate change and global warming are prime issues.” The examples about species controlling harmful organisms and plants providing oxygen and food are relevant, as are floods, droughts, and food shortages. However, the discussion is brief and the reasons are not developed enough to show clearly why one problem is more important than the other. Your opinion is also supported only by the general claim that climate change has “more negative effects,” without explaining or illustrating those effects. The conclusion repeats the two positions but does not restate your own view. Develop each argument with a clearer explanation and make your position consistent in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. This makes the main stages easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “For instance,” “Others, however,” and “In conclusion.” However, some linking is mechanical, and the introduction repeats the same contrast several times before the essay begins its discussion. The final paragraph also summarises the opposing views without connecting them to your stated opinion. References such as “this issue” and “this” are not always precise, so readers may need to infer what they refer to. Reduce repetition in the opening and use clearer links between claims and explanations to make the progression more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “biodiversity,” “sustainable environment,” “climate change,” “droughts,” and “shortage of food.” These terms help communicate the subject, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “prime issues,” “environment,” and “important,” while several choices or collocations are inaccurate: “puts a major risk on our world” and “dispensable factors” do not express the intended meaning naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “cimate,” “beacuse,” and “environmenmt.” Aim for more precise environmental vocabulary and check spelling carefully. For example, describe biodiversity loss as “a serious threat to ecosystems” and use “indispensable” when you mean essential.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “plants and animals which is essential” and a contrast structure beginning “while.” This shows some range, and the main ideas can usually be understood. However, errors in agreement and verb forms recur: “some people argues,” “other suggest,” “plants and animals are,” and “The climate change is happen.” The sentence “This is mainly…” also needs a correctly formed verb phrase. These errors sometimes make the relationships between ideas less clear. Practise matching subjects and verbs, and review present-tense forms and relative-clause agreement. For instance, write “some people argue,” “others suggest,” and “climate change happens” or “is caused by global warming.”
