Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people say that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. While others say that there are more important environmental problems. In my opinion, i agree with the statement that there are more important environmental problems like pollution, global warming, climate change and greenhouse gasses emission.

On the one hand, there are many serious environmental problem in world like climate chnage which is very common in many regions and also responsible for lot of peolple dieing and property damage because unusaul climate cause heavy rainfall, floods and dhrought. Secondly, pollution and harmfull gasses are responsible for global warming which is major problem in world rightnow and incresing of temperature is also because of it.

On the other hand, every species is plays an important role in maintaining the balance of our earth and also very important for life cycle and food cycle. For example, pollinators like bees help human in food security a lot and also many plant species help in medical science for manufacturing lot of medices from plant.

In conclusion, there are many other problems that need our attention and that are destroying our environment on a large scale

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear opinion that other environmental problems are more important, and you discuss both sides. The examples of climate-related damage and the role of bees and medicinal plants are relevant. However, the discussion is only partial: the reasons for prioritising pollution and climate change are brief, and the species-loss argument is not developed beyond examples. The conclusion repeats your position without explaining why these problems outweigh biodiversity loss. The response is also 171 words, 79 words below the required minimum; this limits the space available to develop and support your ideas. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each problem and compare their scale or urgency directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” help readers identify the shift between ideas. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and the conclusion is very brief. Some connections are unclear: the sentence about pollution and greenhouse gases moves quickly to global warming without explaining the relationship, while the opening uses “While” to begin a fragment rather than a complete contrast. Develop each paragraph around a clear main point, link examples explicitly to that point, and use a concluding sentence to show how the two views compare.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “pollution,” “global warming,” “food security,” and “pollinators,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less clear or natural, such as “harmfull gasses,” “unusaul climate,” and “medices.” Some phrases are imprecise, including “lot of people dieing” and “increasing of temperature.” Aim to use accurate environmental terms and check spelling carefully. You could also vary repeated general words such as “problem” and “important” with more precise expressions, while ensuring that new vocabulary fits the sentence naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which is very common in many regions” and a reason introduced by “because.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to follow. For example, “every species is plays” has an incorrect verb construction, while “there are many serious environmental problem” has a plural agreement error. The opening “While others say…” is a sentence fragment, and the final sentence lacks a full stop. Work on subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles and plural nouns, and make sure each sentence has a complete main clause. Shorter, accurately punctuated sentences would help you express the ideas more clearly.
