Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
WHILE TOPIC OF REASONS BEHIND ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS IS DISCUSSED, OPINIONS ARE DIVIDED. MANY PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT THE MAIN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM IN TODAY'S LIFE IS THE LOSS OF PARTICULAR SPECIES OF PLANTS AND ANIMALS, WHILE OTHER PEOPLE ARGUE THAT THERE ARE MORE ESSENTIAL REASONS BEHIND ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS.
DISCUSSING THE FIRST VIEW, THE FOREMOST ARGUMENT SUPPORTERS WOULD PUT FORWARD IS THAT THE LOSS OF PARTICULAR SPECIES OF PLANTS AND ANIMALS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON BEHIND ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS. TO JUSTIFY IT FURTHER, SOME SPECIES OF PLANTS ARE PRODUCE MORE OXYGEN THAN OTHERS. SO, THEY ARE HELPFUL FOR ENVIRONMENT. FOR INSTANCE, NEEM PLANT ARE MOSTLY SEE IN URBAN AREA WHERE WE SHUOLD TAKE PURE AIR FROM ENVIRONMENT. FURTHERMORE, SOME ANIMALS HELP ENVIRONMENT BY EATING SOME PLANTS THAT HELPS TO NATURE. THEREFORE, PARTICULAR SPECIES ARE IMPORTANT REASON BEHIND ENVIRONMENT.
HOWEVER, THE SECOND VIEW HAS ITS OWN CLAIM. THE SIGNIFICANT ARGUMENT IS THAT THERE HAVE MANY MORE REASON BEHIND ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS. TO BE MORE PRECISE, POLLUTION IS ONE OF THE BIG REASON BEHIND ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS. POLLUTION IS MAJOR REASON TO HIGHER AQI IN BIG CITIES. FOR EXAMPLE, DEHLI HAS MOST AQI PERCENTAGE IN ALL OVER INDIA, POLLUTION IS MAJOR REASON BEHIND THERE. IN ADDITION, THERE ARE SOME OTHER FACTOR LIKE BEING CARELESS ABOUT NATURE. TO BE MORE SPECIFIC, PEOPLE DOESN'T KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF NATURE IN OUR LIVES, SO THEY MISUSE THEM AND THAT AFFECT IN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS.
TO CONCLUDE AND OFFER MY VIEWPOINT, I STRONGLY AGREE WITH FIRST VIEWPOINT THAT SOME PLANTS AND ANIMALS PLAY BIG ROLE IN OUR CYCLE, AND APART FORM THAT THERE LOSS CREATE ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS IN DAILY LIFE.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You discuss both views and state a preference for the first, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the explanations are brief and sometimes unclear: the claim that some plants produce more oxygen is not developed into a clear account of how species loss creates wider environmental harm, and the animal example is vague. The discussion of pollution and careless behaviour is also general, with Delhi as the only specific example. Your conclusion repeats your position but does not explain why species loss is more important than the other problems. The response is one word below the required 250-word minimum; the 19 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop and support each view more fully, and make your comparison and opinion clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “Discussing the first view,” “However,” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several linking phrases feel mechanical, including repeated uses of “To be more precise” and “Furthermore.” Connections between claims and examples are not always clear, particularly between the oxygen point and the neem example. References such as “them” in “they misuse them” are also unclear. To improve, organise each body paragraph around one main claim, explain it, and then connect a specific example directly to that claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “species,” “pollution,” “environmental problems,” and “AQI,” which makes the subject clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “foremost argument” and “significant argument.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, for example “more essential reasons behind environmental problems,” “big reason,” and “highest AQI percentage.” Spelling errors such as “Dehli,” “shuold,” and “apart form” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise environmental terms and natural collocations, and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general words like “important” and “reason” with specific alternatives would make the argument clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple sentences and longer structures, including clauses introduced by “while,” “because,” and “so.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas can generally be understood. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “the loss … are,” “plants are produce,” “there have many more reason,” and “people doesn’t know.” Some sentences also lack a clear grammatical relationship between their parts, as in “some animals help environment by eating some plants that helps to nature.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check agreement, verb forms, and articles during proofreading.
