Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
According to some people the main enviromental problem of our time is the loss of some species of plants and animals meanwhile some people say that there are more important enviromental problems. I completely agree with the former statement because besides the loss of some specific species we are facing many other major enviromental issues like deforestation and the disturbance of climate in our enviroment.
On the first hand, a very big problem in our enviroment is deforestation. In today's world, human beings are cutting and burning the forest continously. The main purpose of all of this is to make the cities vast and wide. This is affecting the habitat of the different species and also making difficulties for their living in these forests. For instance, Tiger was a very well known animal in the forests of subcontinent but according to the current report of World Wild life Organization is going to extinct only in few coming years. The only reason of all of this is lost of habitat.
On the other hand, if we take a look towards the climate of our world it is totally changed than the earlier one the only reason for this sharp change is global warming. As far as I know, that some artifical techniques of this modern era that are used to get a little comfort in our life are disturbing our climate as well as enviroment. For example, According to the NASA, the temperature of the earth is raised up to 50% in the last few years. Now, it is quite challenging for us to maintain the temperature.
In conclusion, we can say that besides the loss of some species for are facing many other enviromental problems and the only reason of all of these problems is the mentality of the humans because they want more comfortant in their lives for which they are doing all of this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You present a clear view that environmental problems extend beyond species loss, and you give relevant examples involving deforestation and climate change. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the response does not explain why the loss of particular species is considered the main problem; it mainly describes other environmental issues. Your position is also difficult to follow: you say you agree with the former view, but then argue that there are many other major problems. The examples, including the tiger and the temperature claim, need clearer explanation and support. The response contains 308 words; eight words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To address the task more fully, explain the importance of biodiversity, compare it with other threats, and state a consistent opinion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “On the first hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps readers identify the main topics. However, progression is weakened because the first body paragraph discusses deforestation rather than the view about species loss, and the relationship between your stated agreement and your later argument is unclear. Some linking phrases are awkward or repetitive, and the conclusion largely repeats the introduction without resolving that inconsistency. Improve the sequence by giving one paragraph to each view, then a final paragraph or clear concluding statement for your own position. Use references such as “this loss” or “these threats” only when their meaning is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant environmental vocabulary, including “deforestation,” “habitat,” “species,” and “global warming,” which allows you to communicate the topic. There is some attempt at more specific language, such as “loss of habitat,” but the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear. Examples include “make the cities vast and wide,” “disturbing our climate,” and “comfortant in their lives.” Spelling errors such as “enviromental,” “continously,” and “artifical” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe forests being cleared “to expand urban areas,” and say that human activity “contributes to climate change.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “if,” but complex structures are often faulty and errors recur throughout. For example, “the climate of our world it is totally changed than the earlier one” has an unclear sentence structure and incorrect comparison, while “the temperature of the earth is raised” uses an unsuitable verb form. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “Tiger was a very well known animal” and the run-on sentence beginning “On the other hand, if we take a look.” These issues sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then proofread for tense, articles, and sentence boundaries.
