Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 4.5)
Yes I goes with both statements it is because in my openion both of these are responsible for our enviromental crises.
First talk about those particular species of plants and animals whose play a very essential role to keep our enviroment clean and safe. Those particular specie of animal is whale it is because when a whale released its milk in ocean to feed her cubs but at that time extra milk which waste in ocean is resolved with water and produce many living species which generates oxygen more than of our whole world trees can generate so that particular subject is more valuable but due to the modern era the ships destroy their lives thats why there left just some of them. So thats how the loss of this sea animal also create a probem for our enviroment.
On the other hand, there are also many others things which are responsible for our enviromental problems like rapid growth of industrise and advanced cities . like cars traffic high buildings. All of these things genpollution and add

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You attempt to discuss both views and state that you agree with both, but the response addresses the task only partially. The first body paragraph gives one example—the whale—and tries to explain how species loss could affect the environment; however, the explanation is difficult to follow and does not clearly establish the claimed effect. The second view is only introduced through a list of urban and industrial sources, with no explanation of why these may be more important. Your own opinion is also not developed beyond the opening sentence. In addition, the response is 73 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to explain and support the ideas. Develop both sides with clear reasons and examples, then state which concern you consider more serious, or explain how you weigh them.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening states a position, and the paragraphs begin with “First” and “On the other hand” to signal the two views. These markers help the reader recognise the intended structure. However, progression is limited: the first paragraph moves from whales to milk and oxygen in a confusing chain, while the second ends abruptly after listing examples. The final paragraph does not complete its point, so the response has no developed conclusion. Some linking is also mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “it is because” and “so that’s how.” Use one clear main idea per paragraph, explain each point in a logical sequence, and finish with a conclusion that restates your view.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “particular species,” “environmental problems,” “pollution,” and “rapid growth,” which shows an attempt to address the subject. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “openion,” “enviromental,” “specie,” and “genpollution.” Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural, including “released its milk” and “resolved with water,” which obscure the intended explanation. Aim to use accurate environmental terms and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise phrases such as “habitat loss,” “industrial emissions,” and “biodiversity” would help you explain the issues without relying on repeated general words such as “things” and “problem.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, including a relative clause in “species … whose play a very essential role” and a reason clause beginning “it is because.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “Yes I goes” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “those particular specie … is whale” has problems with number and sentence structure. The long sentence beginning “when a whale released its milk” also shifts awkwardly between verb forms and contains unclear clause connections. Punctuation is often missing or misplaced, especially around sentence openings and lists. Practise building accurate short sentences first, then combine them with correctly formed clauses and consistent verb tenses.
