Student answer (Band 4.5)

Small number of people said that main environmental issue of our time is loss of specific species of plants and animals. Others said these are main environmental issue.

A certain people thinks that the main issue of environment concern the losses of typical species of plants and animals. They think mostly plants are very useful for oxygen and clear environment and the soil is also very good for different types of animals.Particularly species of animlas also good as they use plants for food and their shelters.

Mostly people said there are other many main problems of environment problems. In my opinion there are many more environment problems like traffic, power plants, coal mines. In vehicles we used petrol, when petrol burns carbon release that is big problem of environment. vehicle releases different types of gases and carbon that is dangerous for people health and others problem. In power plants many types of gases releasing when petrol and diesel burn that is more dangerous for environment and affects on people life. In my opinion i think these are most dangerous problems instead of some particular species of plants and animal. There are more environmental problems in daily life like most of some

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify both views and give a clear preference for broader environmental problems, especially pollution from vehicles and power plants. However, the discussion is only minimally developed: the first view is explained mainly through plants providing oxygen and animals using plants for food and shelter, while the second lists traffic, power plants and coal mines without explaining their wider effects or giving a specific example. The opening also inaccurately says that others consider species loss the main issue, rather than introducing the contrasting view in the prompt. The final sentence is unfinished, and the response is 49 words below the required minimum. Develop each side with relevant reasons and examples, then conclude your position fully to address all parts of the task more completely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has separate paragraphs for the introduction and the two main viewpoints, so the reader can recognise a basic structure. There is also a simple progression from species loss to other environmental problems, and phrases such as “In my opinion” signal your position. However, the opening repeats the same idea and misstates the contrast, while the body paragraphs contain loosely connected points rather than a clear sequence of explanation and support. The transition “Mostly people said” does not clearly connect the paragraph to the opposing view, and the final phrase, “like most of some,” leaves the response incomplete. Plan each paragraph around one main claim, explain it, and use clear links between examples and conclusions.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “species,” “oxygen,” “power plants,” “coal mines,” “petrol,” and “carbon,” which makes the general subject understandable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “environment” and “problem” appearing frequently, and several word combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “main issue of environment,” “clear environment,” and “dangerous for people health.” There are also spelling errors, including “animlas,” and imprecise expressions such as “a certain people.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Build a wider set of accurate environmental terms and practise them in natural collocations, such as “environmental degradation,” “air pollution,” and “human health.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt some longer sentences, for example, “In vehicles we used petrol, when petrol burns carbon release that is big problem of environment,” and you use basic clauses to explain causes and effects. However, sentence structures are mostly simple or joined without reliable punctuation, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries. Examples include “people said” where the present-tense viewpoint is intended, “carbon release,” and “a big problem” without the article. The sentence beginning “In power plants” also shifts awkwardly between “gases releasing” and “burn.” These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled clauses using “because,” “which,” and “as a result.”
