Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, there is a lot of change in the environment in compare to old days. There are several factors behind change in the environment. However, some people believe that the main problem of todays world is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. other says that there are more environmental problems. Further in this essay I'm going to explain several points and in the end I'll mentions my point of view.
It is true that one of the main environmental problem is caused because of loss of particular species of plants and animals because if any of the species is disappeared form the nature for any reason then the food cycle would have disturb and it can create environmental imbalance. for example. recently sciences have discovered that if the ants will disappear then soon the world food chain might collapse and no one could survive in this planet.
However, there are certain different facts which are making our environment more weaker for example pollution, cutting down the tree in the name of development, wasting natural resources like food, water and many more. Humans are just thinking about their own profit only they don't care about nature any more. They want good infrastructure, facility, and many modern things so they don't care about nature any more. However, there are some responsible citizens who care about nature and they are taking incite to solve this problems and government helps them as well.
To conclude I believe that it our responsibility to take care of our nature or else nature will destroy every thing. In the end I would like to mention that it is both responsibility citizens and government to save the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a personal position: you explain how species loss could disrupt food chains, then identify pollution, deforestation and resource waste as wider concerns, and conclude that citizens and governments share responsibility. These points are relevant, but the discussion is only partly developed. The claim that the disappearance of ants could make “no one” survive is sweeping and needs a more precise explanation or a reliable example. The second view is mainly a list, with little comparison of why these problems may be more important than species loss. Make your opinion explicit earlier and support each view with clearer reasoning. The response meets the required length; 18 words copied from the task prompt were not counted in the total.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “However,” “for example,” and “To conclude” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear or repetitive. The second-view paragraph repeats that people “don’t care about nature any more,” while the relationship between citizens’ actions and government support is not fully explained. Some transitions, including “Further in this essay,” sound formulaic rather than helping connect ideas. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it; use pronouns and linking phrases carefully so references and relationships between ideas are clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “food chain,” “environmental imbalance,” “pollution,” and “natural resources.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear. Examples include “in compare to old days,” “more weaker,” “cutting down the tree,” and “taking incite.” Repetition of “nature” and “environment” also limits variety. Build a more precise set of environmental terms and check collocations and word forms when editing. For instance, use established phrases such as “compared with the past,” “weaken the environment,” “deforestation,” and “take initiatives.” These changes would make your ideas clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional explanation beginning “if any of the species…” and a sentence linking human development with environmental damage. However, the range is limited, and complex attempts often contain errors that can make the reader pause. Examples include “the food cycle would have disturb,” “it our responsibility,” and “it can create environmental imbalance”; these show problems with verb forms, missing verbs, and articles. There are also recurring issues with subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “other says” and the run-on sequence “Humans are just thinking… they don't care.” Practise accurate conditional forms and sentence punctuation, and edit each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
