Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In recent years, an environmental problem has become a widely dicusses issue. Some people believe that it is due to the loss of biodiversity, While other think that there are more pollution difficulty. From my perspective, i strongly believe that it is due to the reduction of flora and animal species because plants is the source of fresh air, oxygen, and food additionally, animals also protect us, maintained biodiversity.
To begin with, one of the main reason why i hold this view is that plants is the reason of our breathing. For exmaple plants absorbs carbon dioxide and provide us oxygen which help us breath in the clean air. incase the decline occur in plants will cause air pollution. As a result, it may lead to a huge number of diseases. Therefore it is clear that the environmental problem cause due to the lack of plants species.
Another significant reason supporting my opinion is that animal helps in protection for instance, dogs plays most significant role in humans protection. Moreover animals provide us pure milk which is clean of chemicals. Recently the illness is cause due to the chemicals it is due to in fact of reduce in the numbers of animals, consequentlt it demonstrates that the problem occur in environment also include the lack of animals.
In conclusion, i firmly bielive that most of problems occur in pollution now a days is due to the the loss of specific species such as plants and animals because it helps us maintain our environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a clear preference for the view that species loss is the main environmental problem, and the paragraphs about plants and animals are relevant to that position. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the alternative view is only briefly mentioned as “more pollution difficulty”; it is not explained or supported with an example. Your own case is also under-developed: the claims that plants provide oxygen and animals protect people do not establish why species loss is more important than other environmental problems. The example of dogs and protection is particularly narrow, and the claim linking reduced animal numbers to chemical-related illness is unclear. To strengthen the response, explain the competing view and compare its significance with biodiversity loss before reaching your conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The body paragraphs each focus on one broad topic, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Another significant reason” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the intended sequence. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because claims are joined without clear logical links. For example, the move from animals protecting people to providing milk, then to illness caused by chemicals, leaves the relationship between these points uncertain. Some linking phrases, including “As a result” and “Therefore,” repeat the same conclusion rather than advancing the argument. Use clearer topic sentences and explain how each example supports the main point; also develop a separate paragraph for the opposing view.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “biodiversity,” “species,” “carbon dioxide” and “air pollution,” which helps establish the environmental subject. There are also attempts to express cause and consequence, such as “decline” and “as a result.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make meaning less clear: “more pollution difficulty,” “plants is the reason of our breathing,” and “animals also protect us, maintained biodiversity.” Spelling errors such as “dicusses,” “exmaple” and “bielive” are noticeable, while repeated use of “problem,” “plants” and “animals” limits variety. Build a more precise set of environmental terms and check spelling and collocations; for example, distinguish habitat loss, pollution and species extinction.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer cause-and-effect sentences, for example, “For example plants absorbs carbon dioxide and provide us oxygen which help us breath in the clean air.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but control is inconsistent, and errors often make sentences difficult to interpret. Subject–verb agreement is a recurring issue: “plants is,” “plants absorbs” and “dogs plays.” Other problems include missing or incorrect articles and plurals, as in “one of the main reason,” and faulty sentence construction in “incase the decline occur in plants will cause air pollution.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and sentence starts such as “incase.” Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using correctly formed clauses and check agreement and sentence boundaries.
