Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify both views: the importance of protecting species and the seriousness of other environmental problems, such as air pollution. You also give relevant points about animals’ habitats and the role of plants in producing oxygen. However, the discussion is only minimal: the alternative problems are not clearly compared with species loss, and your own opinion is not stated clearly or supported through the response. The conclusion, “in the conclutions the loss of plants and animals spec,” is unfinished, so the reader cannot tell what final position you intended. The response is 146 words, below the required 250 words; 37 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each view with a clear explanation and example, then state and reinforce your opinion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is an attempt to move between the two views, using phrases such as “on the other hand” and “on the one hand,” and some ideas are related—for example, forest cutting is linked to the loss of animal habitats. However, the response is largely one continuous sequence rather than clearly organised paragraphs, and the progression is difficult to follow. Several points are repeated, especially the importance of plants and animals, while the relationship between air pollution, oxygen, and species loss is not made clear. The opening repeats the task wording instead of introducing your own direction, and the conclusion is incomplete. Use separate paragraphs for each view and your opinion, and connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “species,” “natural balance,” “air pollution,” “oxygen,” and “habitat” (expressed as “the home” of animals). These choices show awareness of the environmental topic. However, the range is basic and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “plants and animals” and “important.” Frequent spelling errors, such as “envieroment,” “impotant,” and “conclutions,” make the writing harder to read. Some word combinations are also unclear, including “the planting creating in oxygen” and “these problems effect in the animal.” Build a more precise set of environmental terms and check spelling and collocations; for example, describe pollution as “damaging wildlife” and forests as “natural habitats.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to express cause and effect, as in “if some species disappear it candisturb the natural balance,” and use a conditional structure to explain a possible consequence. However, most ideas are joined in long, unpunctuated strings, so sentence boundaries and relationships are often unclear. There are frequent problems with articles, agreement, and verb forms, as in “every plants and animals has a role” and “these problems effect in the animal.” The response also has few clearly controlled complex sentences, and the unfinished final sentence prevents a complete ending. Practise writing short, complete sentences first, then combine related ideas with accurate conjunctions. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation before submitting.
