Student answer (Band 5.5)

Enviroment is the main role in our lives. some people belived that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of praticular species of plants and animal and some people belied that there are more important enviromental probless. In my opinion, althought losing biodiversity is a terrible problem, other issuse like climate change and global warming are even more dangerous.

On the one hand, many people worry about the loss of plant and animals because every specific plays and important role in nature . When a specific animals or plants become extint it breacks the nature food chain for example,if a certain insects dies out the birds that eat thast insects might also starve and disapprear. This can destory the whole ecosystem .

On the other hand, other argue that there are large environmental challenges that affect everthhing on earth. The most significant example is climate change caused in pollution and greenhoyse gases. factories and cars release huge amounts of smoke every day.Which increase global tempeature. This global warming cause polar ice caps to melt, leading to rising sea levels and dangerous floods in many nations.

In conclusion, the loss of particular plants and animal is a serious threat to our ecosystems. However , i belevied that global issues like climate change and pollution are more vital because they threaten the entire plants.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a clear opinion: biodiversity loss is serious, but climate change and pollution pose a wider threat. The food-chain example and the explanation of melting ice caps and rising sea levels are relevant, but the first view is developed mainly through one brief example, and the discussion of pollution is not clearly separated from climate change. The conclusion restates your position but adds little synthesis. The response contains 207 words, so it is 43 words below the required minimum; this limits the space available to explain and support both sides. To strengthen the response, develop each view with a fuller explanation or specific example, and clarify why you consider the wider problems more dangerous.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. For example, the sentence beginning “Factories and cars…” is followed by a fragment starting “Which increase global temperature,” so the link between cause and effect is not smoothly expressed. Some references, such as “this global warming,” could also be made more precise. Use complete sentences and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports; this would make the organisation feel less mechanical and the relationships between ideas clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant environmental vocabulary, including “biodiversity,” “food chain,” “ecosystem,” “greenhouse gases,” and “rising sea levels,” which helps communicate the topic. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “polar ice caps” and “entire planet.” However, spelling errors are frequent and sometimes make reading difficult, as in “Enviroment,” “extint,” “greenhoyse,” and “tempeature.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate, including “every specific plays” and “the entire plants.” Aim to check spelling carefully and choose natural combinations such as “each species plays a role” and “the entire planet.” A broader, more accurately controlled vocabulary would make the argument clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional example about insects and birds and a cause-and-effect explanation of climate change. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For instance, “When a specific animals or plants become extinct” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “Factories and cars release huge amounts of smoke every day. Which increase…” leaves a dependent clause as a fragment. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries. Practise building complete sentences around one main clause, then check agreement and punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to understand.
