Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify both views: the loss of species, linked to deforestation, and other concerns such as air, water and climate. You also mention responses by governments and schools. However, the discussion is brief and the ideas are mostly listed rather than explained; for example, the effects of polluted air and water are not developed with reasons or examples. Your own opinion is not clearly stated, so the reader cannot tell which problems you consider more important. The response also contains 221 words, below the required 250; 16 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the response, state your position directly, explain both views in separate developed paragraphs, and add a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable sequence: an introduction, discussion of species loss, other environmental concerns, and a paragraph about possible action. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” help signal movement between points. However, the overall progression is not fully clear because the final paragraph shifts to solutions without connecting them to your comparison or stating your position. Some sentences also combine several ideas, as in the list of oxygen, climate and water concerns, making relationships between points unclear. Use topic sentences to guide each paragraph, develop one main idea at a time, and use linking phrases to show contrast between the two views rather than relying mainly on additive transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant environmental vocabulary, including “deforestation,” “pollution,” “global warming,” “afforestation,” and “species,” which helps communicate the topic. There is some attempt to use a range of expressions, but several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “clean oxygen to breath,” “a good climate temperature,” and “loss of millons of plants and animals.” Spelling errors, including “deing,” “deforstation,” and “knowledege,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully. For example, describe “air quality” and “a stable climate,” and explain that deforestation destroys habitats and threatens wildlife rather than simply calling it a loss.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “Currently” and a clause introduced by “so that.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “environment which is a free gift of nature and its our moral responsibilities” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “Government a promoting” and “our environmental problems can solved” have faulty verb forms. Several sentences run together or use commas where clearer sentence boundaries are needed. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses; check articles, verb forms and punctuation when editing.
