IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how electricity is generated in a hydroelectric power station.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram demonstrates workings of hydroelectric power station using water to produce electricity for public usage .

This process mainly uses the momentum of water which is because of difference of height between high-level reservoir and low level reservoir, to produce power.

It involves a dam which is followed by river it stores a substantial amount and also located from certain height from lower reservoir. This height difference creates momentum which are used to circulate turbine which are placed in the middle of upper reservoir and lower reservoir. Turbines usually made up of iron and fiber when they move circular they run the generator coils. Consequently, electricity produces which move to national grid station from power lines. During day time this phenomena works while at night a pump used to pump water from low-water reservoir to high-level water reservoir to use the water during day time .
