The diagram below shows how electricity is generated in a hydroelectric power station.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

As far as this diagram is concerned, the given diagram illustrates the generation of electricity in a hydroelectric power station.
Overall, it is clear that many noticeable factors are involved in the production of electricity in a hydroelectric power station and its a complex mechanism which is being carried out to produce electricity.
At first, the river enters the high-level reservoir of the dam. In the day, the intake is open making the river flow towards the power station. In the power station, a generator is present. The water is further made to flow towards low-level reservoir during the day time. Some of the required water is used by the generator to generate electricity. This electricity is then transferred to power lines and then to the national grid. During the night time, the water stored in the low-level reservoir is moved towards the power station because in night time, the generator works as reversible turbines and pump water towards the high level reservoir. When the water reaches the high-level reservoir of the dam, the intake is then closed. In this way, the production of electricity is being carried out in a hydroelectric power station.
