IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The diagram below shows how electricity is generated in a hydroelectric power station.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The given diagram depicts the process of manufacturing of electricit in hydroelectric power station. A glance at the diagram reveals that it is a cyclic process that completes in four major stages, starting from water reach to dam from river, flow of water, turbines , generator that supply water to power lines.
The process commence with, the flow of water from river to dam. Next, dam stored water to high level, then in day time dam is opened and water is flew to the the turbines. Simultaneously, turbines operate generator that brought water to the generator in the power station, where the generator suppled electricity to the users tghrough the power lines.
After that, during night time, water is transformed from low-level reservoir to high level through turbines that pumps water into the high-level reservoir and then water is flew back to the dam at night and finally dam is closed for storing the water.
