The diagram below shows how electricity is generated in a hydroelectric power station.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The diagram reveal electric current production in hydroeectric power plant. Water from river colleced in dam and flow downward to move turbines.Moreover water from low level reservoir cause turbine to run which further provide current to generator that are connected with the power line for providing energy to the grid.
At day time, water from rivers is utilized for current generation by using downward flow of water. Water moves from higher level to low level which generate current and help for moving turbines. Other water is stored in underground reservoir which is consumed at night for moving turine because the turbine is reversible in direction and can move in both directions.
This turbine movement provides energy to generators that are responsible for supplying electricity to the city grid.
