Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 4.5)
The given diagram elucidates the information about production off electricity by Hydroelectric power station. This diagram shows that electricity made by some following steps first off all the .Hydroelectric power station its located on river .overall the water comes from river on high level reservoir of Dam .in second step the water flow to the power station and then its goes to the Generator .The Generator makes electricity and supply the electric city to power lines national grid . look here are to flow off water one for day and one for night the water flow on two diraction and the water intake from high level reservoir are opened on day time and closed on night .Overall at the end the electricity is made after by hydroelectric power station from all this steps completed

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, coming in at 134 words. While the student attempts to describe the hydroelectric power station process, the coverage is minimal and tangential in places. The explanation of the dual day and night cycle is muddled and lacks accurate reporting of key features, such as the flow of water to the low-level reservoir and the specific functions of the reversible turbines. Ideas are under-developed, and the response lacks a clear, comprehensive overview of the entire diagram.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The information and ideas are not arranged coherently. The text lacks clear paragraphing, appearing as a single, disorganised block of text. Cohesive devices are basic and often misused, such as repetitive use of 'and then', 'overall', and 'look here'. There is a lack of logical progression, making it difficult for the reader to follow the sequence of stages in the power generation cycle.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent word choice and word form errors that strain the reader's understanding. Examples include 'production off electricity', 'electric city', 'diraction', and spelling issues like 'first off all'. Less common lexical items are either absent or inaccurately attempted, limiting the response to a minimally adequate range for conveying basic meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There is a very limited range of sentence structures, with frequent errors that distort meaning. The response contains numerous grammatical issues, including missing articles ('on river', 'on high level reservoir'), incorrect prepositions ('on day time', 'on night'), faulty subject-verb agreement ('the water flow', 'water intake... are opened'), and run-on sentences with poor punctuation. Complex structures are attempted unsuccessfully.
