Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, music plays an important role in everyone life. Some people believe that music is a powerful way to bring people from different cultures and groups together. I completely agree with this opinion because music creates happiness, promotes cultural understanding and connects people emotionally.

Firstly, music is a universal language that everyone can enjoy regardless their nationality or language. People from different countries may not understand each other languages, but they can enjoy the same songs and musical performances. For exapmle, international music concerts bring thousands of people together, where they share their lov e for music and enjoy themselves.

Secondly, music connects people of different generations. Young people and older people may have different lifestyles and interests , but they can enjoy music together. For instance family members often listening traditional songs and modern music at home or during family celebrations. This creates a strong bond between them and helps them understand each other performances.

Moreover, music helps people learn different cultures and traditions. Every country has its own style of music , instruments , and cultural songs. By listening to foreign music people can learn about other societies and develop for their traditions.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that music is an effective way to unite people from different cultures and ages. It spreads happiness, reduces cultural differences, and create strong relationships among people. So thats why I am strongly agree with this statement because music connects the people each other and promotes the traditions and culture of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you completely agree that music can unite people across cultures and generations. You address both groups in the prompt and give relevant reasons, including shared enjoyment at international concerts, family listening, and learning about other traditions. These examples make the response relevant, but some points are asserted rather than fully explained. The paragraph about generations, for example, says family members listen to different music, but does not show in detail how this helps them understand one another. The cultural-learning point is also brief and would benefit from a specific example. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation or a concrete illustration to make your support more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, three body paragraphs and a conclusion. The progression from shared enjoyment, to generations, to cultural understanding is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Moreover” help identify each point. This organisation is effective, though the linking is somewhat formulaic and some connections between ideas could be smoother. The conclusion repeats the central claim and several earlier points, while “So thats why” makes the transition feel conversational and redundant. Some references are also unclear: “understand each other performances” does not clearly connect to the intended idea. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make sure each sentence links precisely to the point being developed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “universal language,” “cultural understanding,” “musical performances,” and “strong bond.” These phrases help communicate your main ideas, and the meaning is generally clear. However, the range is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the repeated use of “music,” “people,” and “connect,” and several word-choice or spelling problems reduce precision. Examples include “develop for their traditions,” “understand each other performances,” and the misspellings “exapmle” and “thats.” Aim for more accurate collocations and a broader set of expressions for unity and cultural exchange. Proofreading spelling and choosing natural word combinations will make your ideas sound more fluent and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “because music creates happiness” and a contrast structure beginning “Young people and older people may have different lifestyles.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction. For example, “everyone life” needs a possessive form, “regardless their nationality” is missing a grammatical element, and “family members often listening” has an incorrect verb form. The final sentence, “I am strongly agree,” also uses an incorrect structure. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and revise each sentence for a complete, natural grammatical structure.
