Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of music as a universal language and its role in social events like weddings and charity functions. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of how music bridges generational gaps is brief and could be further extended with more specific analysis. While the response covers all parts of the task, the supporting arguments lack depth and the conclusion is a bit repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more detailed explanations and nuanced examples to fully explore the social impact of music.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'While music can encouraging people...' is grammatically incorrect and disrupts the flow. There are also instances where referencing is unclear, such as the abrupt shift between sentences. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional misuse of conjunctions mean that the cohesion is not always smooth or effective. Improving the variety and accuracy of your transition signals will significantly enhance the logical flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'diffrent', 'evryones', 'cluture', 'tottaly', 'importnt', 'grnration', 'tretment'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic terms rather than more precise or academic alternatives. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'universal language' and 'social barriers', the overall lexical control is inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common words and expanding your range of academic collocations to express your ideas with greater precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'music bring'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'music can encouraging'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing capital letters at the start of sentences. While the meaning is generally clear despite these errors, the high frequency of mistakes prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for punctuation will help improve your accuracy.
