Student answer (Band 6.5)

This has been argued by a group of individuals that music can bring people of different nations and diverse cultural heritage together. In my opinion it brings the people from different nation on a single platform but its significantly depends on several factors like the interest of the listener and the type of music itself.

The first and foremost argument that the debaters would have been making is that music concentrate the huge fraction of its lovers at a single platform when they listen to same singer. The platforms include any concert, show, Youtube or Instagram video broadcasting a song which will be listened globally by the people of varying age and several cultures. Thus, it will help in bringing the followers of multiple cultures together and it is very fast and convenient way to do so.

On the contrary, this gathering is dependent on several factors like the personal interests of the listener, for example if a person likes to listen to the classical music and other used to consume Jazz music both can not be gathered at a single platform. Similarly, it also depends on the qualities of the person who is playing the music as listeners often track the specific singer or instrument and they only used to listen that singer or instrument only. It is evidenced by the fact that my father like to hear the songs sang by Satinder Sartaj, a well known Punjabi Singer. Such cases make it difficult to bring people of different age groups and nations at one platform.

Encapsulating all the debate, I would like to put forward that music is a good way to gather the individuals of different nations at one place but it has a number of restrictions which make it difficult to do so.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of music in uniting people across cultures and ages. You have a clear position, although the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the argument about 'personal interests' is a valid counterpoint, but it could be expanded with more depth regarding how digital platforms actually bridge these gaps. The conclusion is a bit brief and repeats the introduction rather than synthesizing the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more thorough exploration of the 'why' and 'how' behind your claims, rather than just stating them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'The first and foremost argument' and 'On the contrary' to signal shifts in your logic. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Encapsulating all the debate'. Additionally, the referencing within sentences is sometimes slightly unclear, which affects the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows logically into the next will help improve the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'diverse cultural heritage', 'broadcasting', and 'convenient'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'music concentrate the huge fraction' (should be 'concentrates a large number') and 'used to consume Jazz music' (should be 'used to listening to'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to convey your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('music concentrate', 'my father like to hear') and article usage ('the classical music', 'the songs sang by'). Some sentences are also slightly awkward in their construction, such as 'This has been argued by a group of individuals'. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency.
