Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this day and age it is widely believed that music is the most important source of enjoyment , entertainment for different people. However people have different reviews related to this contemporary topic some believe that it brings joy to life ,life feels meaningful conversely some think that it is only source of distraction which distracts a person from it's main goal and takes an individual to fantasy life . From my perspective music heals an individual while listening to music person enjoys his own company . I strongly agree with the statement that music connects people from different ages .

Lets just take an example if music didn't exist would be able to know about the most beautiful and knowing personalities of Pakistan who are not with us now but there music is there music heals thousands of people even the people across the border praise them and wish that they were born in their country because they were the shinning stars who changed the history of Pakistan's music industry and they were Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Noor Jahan the well known singers .They played a very crucial role in connecting people across the border .Music do bring people from ancient time and different countries together because in tune is something to which people run when they are distressed or worry and also when they are happy.

Recently in France in French school a folk dance was organized by the teacher of their school in which students from primary school prepared a beautiful dance performance on Pakistani song and it was so amazing that every reel of that media on social media got billion of views it had to got too much success in such a way every one either they are Indian or Pakistani or belonged to any other country enjoyed watching performance on the internet and praised them . It is the music which connected people across the world and gave chance to understand others tradition . the tune of Music is something which attracts people .

So in a nutshell music is enjoyed ,loved ,accepted and praised by many countries and people across the world

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing how music connects people of different cultures and ages. You clearly state your position in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The example regarding Pakistani singers is relevant, but the explanation of how this specifically connects different 'ages' is less clear than the cultural aspect. The second example regarding the French school is a good attempt to support your argument, but the writing becomes slightly repetitive in its focus on social media views rather than the deeper cultural connection. To improve, ensure each paragraph explicitly links back to both 'cultures' and 'ages' as requested by the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or missing. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. You rely heavily on simple sentence structures, which makes the flow feel choppy. While there is a logical progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words (such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in light of this') limits the cohesion. Improving the variety of transition signals will help your ideas connect more fluidly and improve the overall structure of your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'people across the world' and 'different countries'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'knowing personalities' instead of 'well-known figures' and 'it had to got too much success' which is grammatically and lexically awkward. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to sociology or cultural exchange, and focus on using collocations more accurately to express your ideas with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'in French school'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'Music do bring'), and punctuation errors, such as missing commas and incorrect capitalization. The sentence 'if music didn't exist would be able to know' is missing a subject. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
