Student answer (Band 5.5)
Music is considered as the most melodious and peaceful way of bringing all kind of people together whether they are of different cultures and ages. Every age group has a different taste in music but I agree that it can keep people connected without the consideration of their age.
Music is the connection of souls, where young Generation Z and Alpha Children enjoy hip hop and energetic music, the Millennials and Boomer enjoy peaceful and calm music. Nowadays, Generation Z has also started liking the 2000s songs as they consider it a peace to their chaos. As an epitome, when people go on camping and trekking there are programs of Bonfire, where each age group people come and sings songs together that are enjoyed by everyone from the eldest to youngest. Hence, you do not need to be of a age group to enjoy music.
Furthermore, music also brings cultures together, Many people enjoy Qawwali together where they do not see from which culture you are and everyone sing and enjoy in unity. Every culture has their own kind of music which represents their traditions in a very unique and great way. As an epitome, In Gujarati they have garba in which they have traditional music to which all the age group people despite different culture come together to dance, sing and celebrate the culture.
In contradiction, sometimes people have a dispute over their music taste according to their age and the culture they follow, which can be ignored if people respect each others' opinion and have a great time together.
Conclusively, I believe that music is a really good method of bringing people of different cultures and ages together.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both age and culture in relation to music. You maintain a clear position throughout, agreeing that music acts as a unifying force. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of bonfires and cultural festivals like Garba. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. To reach a higher band, you should expand on 'why' and 'how' music bridges these gaps with more analytical depth rather than just listing examples. The conclusion is a bit brief and could have better summarised the main points to reinforce your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is logically organised into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'In contradiction', and 'Conclusively' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'As an epitome', which is not a standard idiomatic phrase in this context. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to avoid repetitive sentence structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'melodious', 'unify', and 'traditions'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'As an epitome' is used incorrectly; 'For instance' or 'A prime example' would be more appropriate. Additionally, phrases like 'peace to their chaos' are slightly informal. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoid repeating the same phrasing when introducing examples. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your meaning clearly, but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors. For instance, 'all kind of people' should be 'all kinds of people', and 'do not see from which culture you are' is awkward phrasing. There are also issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement, such as 'each age group people come and sings'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and pluralisation errors.
