Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate regarding whether songs are a universal language that connects individuals from diverse cultures. I completely agree with this assertion because of cultural communication and various stages of generational harmony.
The primary argument supporting my stance involves traditional connection. To clarify this phenomenon occurs due to the fact that music serves universal language that has diverse spoken words fully. It allows people from different societies to share emotions and feelings through rhythm. Consequently, it inevitably leads to a world with less conflict. A prime example of this can be seen in a recent empirical study conducted in Canada, which revealed that in global music festival, people from diverse cultures celebrate it together. Thus, this clearly demonstrates why this trend must be viewed as highly advantageous.
Furthermore, another critical aspect to consider is generational bonding. In other words, if individuals or authorities embrace this approach, it establishes a framework where they connect the age group to share experience. It allows children's parents and grandparents to grow connections between each other. To illustrate, historical data from various developed nations highlights how families celebrate community parties, where people of all ages sing, dance and enjoy together. Therefore, it becomes indisputable that the benefits are profound.
In conclusion, I firmly reiterate that my agreement with this notion is rooted in both advanced connection and age-group unity. Hence, it is highly recommended that policy markers actively support this movement to guarantee long-term societal progress.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement (243 words), which necessitates a penalty. While the ideas are relevant, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the example regarding the Canadian study is vague and lacks sufficient detail to fully support the argument. The conclusion is also quite brief. To improve, you should expand on your supporting examples and ensure that each paragraph provides a more thorough explanation of the points raised to meet the length requirement and demonstrate deeper critical thinking.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', and 'To illustrate' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced, such as 'To clarify this phenomenon occurs due to the fact that'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, in the second paragraph, the phrase 'this trend' is used without a clear antecedent. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that pronouns and reference words clearly point back to the intended nouns will help achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'generational harmony', 'empirical study', and 'indisputable'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'advanced connection' and 'policy markers' (likely meaning 'policymakers'). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the vocabulary lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—and avoid using overly complex words if you are not entirely sure of their correct context or meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'music serves universal language' is missing an article ('a'), and 'connect the age group to share experience' is grammatically awkward. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors, such as missing commas in introductory phrases. To reach a higher band, you need to increase the frequency of error-free complex sentences and pay closer attention to articles, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement.
