Student answer (Band 5.0)

There's a debate between people that music is supporting inclusion among diverse people, and music can really collide cultures and different ages groups together.

The supporter's of this proposition said that music can be a mutual interests among people despite their differences. And this because music is a language everyone can speak, no matter if its a Korean or Arabic lyrics song, everyone can join if they like the melodies. There are many advantages to music, like it increase dopamine, it create a fanbases from all over the world, it's a way to produce, have fun with your friends and its also helpful for meditation.

In the other hand, some people may dislike music, and the reason for that is because music have ultrasounds that can affect the human's brain, and it sometime it may restrict and block the thinking.

In my perspective, i think music is a beautiful in all forms and genres, i listen to music when i feel sad, happy and in most states. In addition, i met several people who listen to similar type of music i listen too, and it's a great experience that despite the disparities between we share this cute interest.

In conclusion, i agree that music have a great message, but for that message to be vivid it should be based on ethical considerations, some musicians may use music as a way to share their bad beliefs, so everyone must be vigilant and direct the music to the peaceful and the right way, in what it truly made for.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing music's role in bringing people together. However, the development is uneven. While the first body paragraph provides some reasons, the second paragraph introduces a tangential argument about 'ultrasounds' and 'brain blocking' which is not well-supported or relevant to the core theme of cultural and age-related connection. The position is clear, but the arguments lack depth and academic rigor. To improve, focus on expanding the main argument with more concrete examples of how music bridges cultural gaps, rather than introducing speculative or irrelevant points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward transitions. For instance, 'In the other hand' is an incorrect collocation for 'On the other hand'. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'In addition', 'In conclusion'), they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the transition between the benefits of music and the counter-argument about ultrasounds. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'collide cultures' (instead of 'bring cultures together') and 'mutual interests' (should be 'mutual interest'). Phrases like 'cute interest' are too informal for an academic essay. The range is somewhat limited, relying on basic descriptors. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding informal or imprecise terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('music have', 'it increase'), incorrect pluralization ('supporter's'), and sentence structure errors ('it sometime it may'). There is a limited range of complex structures, and the ones attempted often contain errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Increasing the variety of sentence structures while ensuring accuracy will help move toward a higher band score.
